UGC Request

I know it's something that could be abused by some, but I'd really appreciate the ability to import obj. files into a mission designer. That way, I could build rooms and buildings with 3rd party programs like Hexagon and import them into a user created map.

Any chance of this being a feature?

I doubt it - for much of the same reasons we probably wont' be able to upload custom textures. That TRIBBLE spray contingent has pretty much made this a no.

    Absolutely not.

Yeah, you're probably right, but it severely limits what serious UGC makers can do.

I disagree. The pieces are already in game to tell pretty much any story you want within the ST universe. The only thing you might have a problem doing would be non-ST stories like "Captain Proton".

    Limits also mean protection.

Last thing we want is UGC being pulled down because someone copyright infringed with an upload or was posting TRIBBLE (when STO is accesible to minors).

I kind of wanted to recreate historic locations like the tos bridge, a mission reminiscent of "A Piece of the Action" or "Spector of the Gun" etc. I doubt we'll be able to anything that creative with standard corridors, etc.

The solution to that "problem" is to request those pieces be officially added to the game. I agree it would be nice to have them.

We don't need this. That said we had better have all the options possible in UGC when and if it comes out!

You can make a quality UGC maker without custom models and sounds and stuff.

Well, if these pieces are not needed, what do you believe encompasses "all the options possible"?
