Where would we all go....

OK, so this article came out detailing how STO and Champions are both keeping Atari alive despite Atari losing 65% in sales. So this begs the question;

In the worst case scenario of Atari going under, what publisher would you want to support Cryptic? Activision, EA, other, independent?

    If I could, I'd unify Cryptic with BioWare. It seems to me like a great idea to add Cryptic's know-how in crafting gameplay experience(s) — all through CoH/V, CO and now STO — to BioWare's ability to entertain me with stories and characters I cared about, from Jade Empire, through KOTOR, Dragon Age and Mass Effect. :D

    Naturally it'd mean aligning with EA, but that's just what I'll have to endure... ;)

    EA, no question about it. They make some really great games and I feel they understand the importance of online play.

    Don't worry Cryptic/Atari, I'll support you guys up until the day you guys go under, if it happens (hope it doesn't).

    I bring up Activision because of the success of the Activision-Blizzard partnership, they do know how to make an MMO work. ;)

    Our boss was one of the first people to mod SFC (Raven Night) and worked with Activision on Bridge Commander and the deposed BC2 for quite a few years. It would be a mistake, IMO, to go Activision.

    I would say EA would be a good fit.

    Not in any way *I* care about :( at least not yet... then again, perhaps I dislike WoW more for its settings/lore/franchise rather than its gameplay... :o

    I would definitely Say EA. They've cleaned up their act over the past several years, and I like them now. Unfortunately Activision has seen fit to take the role of bad rep publisher, and is actually worse (they're major money grubbers [often overcharging for most thing, and planning on DLC for a game before it even ships, with the DLC releasing very, very, very soon after ship], and the CEO has stated that he doesn't really like Video games).

    Well, at least this will put to rest the whole "STO is Hemorrhaging money because it's players are leaving and will fail because of it" argument

    Exactly, that's why I also posted the article to my facebook. It's a great sign that STO is worth having around. :cool:

    To the previous post, I still have issues with EA, I just see them charging for each Season :(

    While I appreciate all the concern, I want to reassure you that neither Cryptic, not Atari, is going away any time soon.

    Thanks,
