Season 2.0 ...GO or NO GO for Tuesday?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
just wondering... the Dev Tracker is very silent today.

daddyStahl said they aim for tuesday if nothing big comes up on the weekend build.

So? Do we have a GO or NO GO for tomorrow?

I didn't see much for a lower KDF to do that was that much different. Did I miss something? I just saw "House Always Win". I did it when it was bugged and logged in again and it completed but I was just offered the same mission again. If that's all the big KDF content update is supposed to be a replaying the same thing over and over, then they need to wait. Now if because of the unable to complete bug meant I had to do it again to move to another part, then my bad but I saw that same mission offered and thought "pathetic".

Since there is no news or any mention of an update on the Launcher at this point, I would say that Season 2 might not be happening Tuesday. Perhaps Thursday or Friday?

The bugs in the first Klingon story mission are showstopping. There's apparently more than one point where the whole thing can fudge up and become uncompletable.

The Kerrat space war zone is still crashing whenever someone uses fighters...from the new Klingon carrier.

Unless this season is meant to be a big middle finger to Klingons, those two things need to be fixed. At least.

I think it's likely one of those situations where it's "Go Unless QA Finds Something Horrific."

No chance, too much of season 2 is broken or in serious need of work.

    Thursday at the earliest,
Next week far more likely since they need to have time to test the patches to whats broken.

They may have gotten those bugs fixed already, and they just never bothered, or haven't gotten around to uploading the updates to Tribble.

But I still would like to know what's going on.

    There are several serious bugs.

The global cooldown issue will impact anyone, pvp or pve. That needs to be fixed.

There are still several mission bugs.

The new Klingon carrier is worthless TRIBBLE - only one guy claims he has found a viable build - and I question anyone who states a ship is viable when its best tactical skill is listed attack pattern omega 1. The bigger issue is that 1 guy can launch S'kul fighters in Kar'rat and disconnect every player in the instance.

The new herd mission is a griefer paradise, and cryptic has no chance in hell of identifying someone as a griefer when something as simple as a terrible pilot can grief the other 19 players.

There are emblem availability issues between the factions, Feds can earn more than Klingons on a per day basis.

The Saucer separation is still inconsistent, and can be forced back on by use of certain skills instead of solely by impulse power.

There are still crashes in Klingon exploration missions.

Seems to me these bugs need to be fixed before going to Halodeck, which is unlikely to be fixed and tested in 24 hours. The good news is that because there were so many testers finding bugs, when Season 2.0 does finally go to Halodeck it won't be a mess for everyone.

When the first tribble patch got delayed for a week i already suspected a live delay. Since the testing time for the final build on tribble was on for only 3 days, i think it doesn´t come tomorrow. :(

I think it's a go. But we'll see once there's a Dev post RE: any 'maintainence' posts for Holodeck. I do tjhnk it would be nice to see one final fix pass up on Tribble for a day or so, but overall, I don't think Season 2.0 is in all that rocky a shape. Considering all the new items in it, it works well, and I'm sure they can do a 'fix it' patch within the firt week of release.

What I was sorry to hear was the other things that were slated for the Season 2.0 patch, but still aren't quite ready (and I do hope thwy'll be in soon), including:

    - The ship interior mini-games (the Science/Engineering Lab ones)

    - The 'Antropology' diplomacy missions (DStahl stated in a post these were ones wher you had to observe a primative culture without breaking the Priome Directive.) They're 'coming soon' biut need more work.
(And, I wasn't a huge fan of the whole new 'Fed Diplomatic Corps.' stuff when I first heard of it, but seeing what it is they did, and playtesting what is rolling out with this first Season 2.0 Update patch; I DO like what they've done, and hope they coninue to expand it).

But overall, I didn't encounter any real showstoppers; so I think it's a go for this week at some point (if not Tues. probably Thurs.)

there will always be bugs, in any live patch. as long as they nail the serious ones it will be ok, they can clean up the smaller ones as they go. some bugs are just a nightmare to track down and fix. if they waited to fix everything we could be waiting for several more weeks.

if its needs a few more days then so be it but at the moment it could go either way

dStahl allready said that the new Fleetaction probably will not be in the Season 2 update as long as they are not happy with it.

Other then that i just would like to know what the hell is going on and if i can plan on playing STO the next 3 days or if i should plan for something else.

This "not knowing" and "not getting told anything" makes me nuts ;P
Is it to much to ask that they drop short line on the status quo?

Well, it would not surprise me if they did not get the 2.0 season out until after the deadline. I seem to be a bit cynical however, seeing how many things are wrong, and need to be completed I assume it will be late.

There's still quite a few issues with Exploration Clusters, B'Tran in particular is really bugging out at the moment.

Going by the bugs still cropping up on Trib,, I'd hope they wait a day or two. I realize it's a lose lose for the Devs, but it's better if it's right,, or really close to right as opposed to on time and broke.

I do not know, sounds like one big "I Win" button to me - quite viable I would say

Oh you can play STO... it's still online :D

I'm guessing another week. They're going to want at least one more tribble test before going live and depending on how hard they whip the QA guys I'm sure it's at least a couple days from the dev team saying the bugs are fixed to when the QA guys verify it. That would put a build out to tribble Thursday at best so they may simply announce final build to Tribble this Friday and if all goes well live on the following Tuesday.

Or maybe they are fine with the broken cooldowns and -2000000 shields so they'll just release it tomorrow and say those bugs simply are simply sauce for the goose...

Remember kids... the easiest way to fix a bug is simply make it a "feature" :p

Just saw a post by Snix, talking about the UI Cooldown bug being in the next build, so I think it's safe to say Season 2 isn't going to be Tuesday.

Thanks for the great reproduction steps!

We have a fix for the recharge/cooldown UI issue and it should make it into the next build.

    Thanks again,
    -snix

Which makes me think they have it fixed FOR the next build not that it will be in the next build.

There are still quite a few bugs with the interiors as well.

Footsteps are way too loud on lower decks
    Abusive tricorder use
    Crew jumps off of rails
Crew constantly opens your quarters door
Sometimes you fall through the turbolift into space
Taking the turbolift to the bridge puts you on the bridge instead of in the turbolift
Noone on duty at any of the major stations
Sound effects in Engineering a bit odd, no engine sound
Crew walk up and stand in front of closed doors
You can hear the bridge sounds in your ready room (should be quiet)

Not huge things mind you (except perhaps the falling out of the turbolift part) but bugs nonetheless.

Also, interiors have no function at all. I think that is a mistake...a few basic functions would work in some locations, at least to give them a purpose. I mentioned a few in my post in the tribble forums, I wont repeat them here.

I would like them to wait on release. This is an important patch.

    lol yeah....
but Holodeck feels kind of outdated now that i played a few hours on Tribble with all the new shiny things ;)

i said it before and i say it again, Interriors should not go on Holodeck.
Well give me access to the Bridge and the Ready Room (at least that room has trophys, so there is SOME functionality) but deactivate the Turbolift, dont let me go down to that bugged unfinished area and polish it up for 2.1 or 2.2... or even 3.0
I rather see it finished then in this state but ther is no way they make this any better for 2.0
(but this would bork the Klingon Episode Mission where you have to place a Trophy in the dining room area... so hmm never mind)

Wow, i guess i haven't been trying hard enough. I played several hours over the weekend and didn't find any bugs at all on either the klingon or fed sides.

I still don't think S2 will launch tomorrow though. I don't see how they can do major bug squashing between the end of the TTW and tomorrow.

I would like to know as well if we are going forward with season 2. I took the 27-29 off just for this moment, as well as my B-day on wedsday :D.

Can we please have some feedback on this thread.
