Rogues Radio, and myself, are pleased to offer a contest for our Star Trek Online listeners.
Basically, Ive been a Star Trek fan for a long time, now, and one question has plagued myself and millions of other people for decades, now. Its this question that I want answered, and who better than the players of Star Trek Online to do it.
The question is simply this: Who would win in a fight - Kirk or Picard?
But, hang on Flash, you sexy beast! I hear you cry.
Thats too simple a contest! I can win that in 30 seconds!
Are you sure? Because the winner will be whomever answers it in the most original and creative way. Can you draw? Send in some artwork. Musician/Singer? Write us a song and perform it. Writer? Fanfic it up (no Yaoi, please), or a poem may be best. Basically, whomever can do it in, as I say, the most original and creative way, will win the grand prize.
Oh, great, Flash. I hear you cry again.
More STO posters!
Please. I can do better than that. It isnt a contest for nothing. Whomever wins the contest wins a copy of the William Shatner novel Avenger. Whats that, you say? You already
have one?
Oh, dear. Well
is it
signed? By
Shatner himself?
Thats right, a SIGNED copy of William Shatners novel. None too shabby, eh?
The Rules:
You MUST be a member of the Rogues Radio forums to enter (
http://www.roguesradio.com), in order to display your entries.
The opening date of the contest is 25/07/10, and it closes 22/08/10
The judges decision is final and not open to discussion.
To provide fairness, I, The Flasherman, will
not be judging the contest. Three DJs who don't play STO will be the judges instead, to prevent any favouritism.
So...why're you still reading this? Get to it!

Questions:
1. I have no talent - why should I enter a contest I have no hope of winning?
How can you win a contest unless you enter?
Besides, I chose the wording very carefully - original and creative doesnt always mean best. A carefully sketched, painstakingly drawn, breathtakingly rendered piece of artwork might take weeks to complete, and it may be a true work of art
but it may very well lose to a screenshot comic of Kirk and Picard having an argument during Generations, which ends with Picard crushing Kirk under a bridge - something that can be knocked out of half an hour. I cant tell you guys how to enter, as that would be cheating, and also, Im not judging the contest. I will
, however, say that creativity takes many forms, and just because you think you cant complete, doesnt mean that you actually cant
. Give it a go, you may surprise yourself.
2. Who can enter?
Anyone not currently affiliated with Rogues Radio - so, basically, anyone who isnt a DJ. This means that friends of DJs, people whove never tuned in before, and hell, even Cryptic employees can enter, if they so choose.
3. Do I really have to join the Rogues Radio website to enter?
Yes, but its quick, painless, and its free - it also gives you access to the chatroom, so you can talk to other listeners, make new friends, and request songs from DJs who are currently on-air but not playing ST:O. From a practical standpoint, it really does
make sense, as its the only way the judges can view, listen to, or otherwise take notice of your entries. We dont use your personal information to anything, and as were not a member of any larger group, we dont give your details out to third parties.
4. When does the contest end, again?
The closing date for entries is the 22nd of August. You have precisely four weeks to craft something and get it entered, and then a week later, the winner will be announced on air, during my set. If you cant make the show (August 29th) then the winner will be announced both on the ST:O forums and the Rogues Radio forums. If youve won, expect a private message on the Rogues Radio forums (see? Theyre useful) asking how to send you your prize.
