Are Gekli inspired by the Leviathan species in Farscape?

While playing one of the UA missions on Tribble, I did the one about meeting the Hylasa and Gekli.

When I got to the end of the mission, the Hylasa captain refers to "the Great One being able to do one speed burst".

This sounds a lot like the Leviathans' ability to starburst, which allowed them to cross great distances in a short amount of time.

In short, no. They appeared in TNG before Farscape was even an idea.

I think the Gekli is supposed to be the same species as Jr from the TNG episode "Galaxy's Child"

Where their abilities ever discussed in that episode though?

Or did Cryptic just invent a whole lot of stuff to explain their presence in the game?

Actually they're inspired both from the TNG episodes Galaxy's Child and Tin Man.

These things are clearly the same species as Galaxy's Child.

Tin Man has nothing to do with it nor is there any indication of a relation.

Well you could say that Tin Man inspiered the people living in it.

Except that Junior was just a space faring organism and not a space vehicle, Gomtuu was an actual living ship that cared for it's crew and actively needed them. That was the bit that "inspired" that part of the Gekli ships. That is why I used the word "inspired" in this instance.
