Anyone else worried about direction c-store is taking

I'm getting worried about c-store in this subscription game, when they start taking items/bonuses that are normaly free in game and selling them in c-store it's time to object before it gets worse. Examples of this are as follows

1. NEW Ships - every other rank we got 1 ship for free and the other variations where available at reasonable price in game for EC currency. The price of 500 emblems for these ships in game is absolutely absurd. How many players have changed there ship preference either because of changes made in patches or just for variety. NB. u can's say ships with unique abilities don't affect gameplay.

2. BO slots - we also gained 2 extra BO slots every time we gained a rank up to RA. These extra slots were in season 2 patch up until this weekends patch, anyone who played on tribble before this weekend should have also noticed this. The latest patch removed these slots so we would have to pay an extra 800 cryptic points to get what should have been free in game.

3. What's next ?????? this is a slippery slope which people have to voice there objections about before we are truly taken advantage of

I have no objections to the per account items that are cosmetic to gameplay in c-store or the prices but the above points are tricks free 2 play games start using starting out, then they keep adding more and more items until game can no longer be played competitively without spending huge amounts of cash in the in game shop.

While I don't like the way it is going the sad truth is that all company are out to make as much money as they can with out losing too many people. I imagine they will keep pushing the limits of the c-store until people stop buying them or they start to lose a lot of people over it. Once they reach that point they will stop but not go back they are just seeing how far they can push it as in company would. It is the invisable line in the sand for them:p

Some general corrections and fixes for accuracy's sake ...

    - The price is 400 CPs for two slots. Not 800.

    - The slots were never active on Tribble. They appeared but were inert.

    - They haven't been fully removed. My Klingon still has two slots that are showing but inert.

Which means it is most likely a display bug. Of which there are many in this game. The best thing is to report it. And hope they get it fixed.

Using it to try and make some point about the C-Store is ... unsuccessful. Those slots were never active.

Slippery slope is a logical fallacy.

If people keep complaining about the C-Sore, soon we'll have TRIBBLE!!!!

atleast its upfront and honest money making , rather than what sony does with its TCG adding content you have to gamble to get

We've fulfilled Godwin's Law. The longer a debate goes on the more likely a comparison to TRIBBLE will be invoked.

    Tip o' the hat.

    1. We get one free VA ship. Having to earn extra ships is the same as having to spend time to earn gear in other games.

    2. Chum already covered this.

    3. The slippery slope argument is silly at best.

    am i worried

    no

am i totally happy with the direction

    no

mainly i want the nebula and excelsior, and perhaps even the race unlocks to be achievable in game too. i would support being able to buy them in the c-store and via emblems in game.

I'm ok with whatever they do to generate cash. Whatever it takes to keep the dev team working on this great game.

Emblems or Merits or whatever would a fast and easy way to make race unlocks available in-game.

But ... I'd be willing to wait very patiently if ... they could tie those types of things into something more mission driven and specific. It would be a very nice touch if you could unlock playable Ferengi by doing a mission or series of missions that were relevant to why you can suddenly now play ferengi.

That would take a lot of time to make happen. But would probably be a really cool experience.

Seems to me that Crytic has no imagination that they have to make things per character purchases instead of just being creative and throwing more origninal account purchases at us.

They should never have gone per character.

I mean there is so much they can create ongoing and sell for account wide forever and selling account wide most people will buy.

Give me Sulu's sword from the new movie. Give me original uniforms, they don't just have to be what already exists be original I will buy them.

Give me new ships I will buy them! Give me TRIBBLE off-duty outfits I will buy them!

Give me JIGGLEBOOBS! I will Buy them! The list can go on forever! Give me pets I will Buy them as long as it is account wide!:D

i actually dont mind some services being character locked as for example i dont necessarily want new bo slots on all characters, or need new ship slots for every character

but they should be much cheaper than they currently are. 400 per character is too expensive

For me, it merits repeating that anything that significantly alters the gameplay in the C-STORE is a slippery slope. It will generate short-term, but not long-term profits. For so long as the C-STORE keeps getting bigger with micro-transactions, it becomes a game to develop in and of itself. If this stuff was all in the game as something you earn through gameplay, people would be playing longer and thus generating more money for the company that way.

    again.

I don't care if they are offered in the c-store.

but ... not having a way to acquire the c-store items via gameplay is just plane WRONG.

What really makes me mad is the money grabbing and misrepresentation BS that Cryptic pulls.... and the naive Star Trek fans are falling for it every time... they use the point system to fool you into believing it is cheaper than it actually is ( 2000 game-points seems a lot lot less damaging to your finances that $25 dollars ).

...even the respec should have a quest chain to get it in-game. This is making me dislike cryptic more every day.....

..... sux that this is Star Trek, and I like the gameplay, and the art direction... and the possibilities...

but man ! how much do we have to take to before the powderkeg blows ??? we're going broke......

    :(

I've always felt things like races should be unlocked via quests in game. And now with the first contact/diplomat missions, we have the first step toward making something like that happen.
