Ok Started a klingon for the first time yesterday. All I can say is CRYPTIC WHAT THE HELL WHERE YOU THINKING.

This faction is so beyond unfinished it its insulting that you put it in the game.

Why did you waste time doing this when you could have put all your time, money and enery into FED and when that was working smoothly then move on.

I really cannot believe it, No mission just PVP and stupid explore missions.....

I am getting so disapointed with STO now.

IMPROVEMENTS:::

How about missions when you join a family i.e marry into one. Then you can pick up blood fued missions, revenage etc.

Maybe you should have waited until Tuesday for when they add the Season 2 improvements.

well it takes time to improve. sadly your are right, for the past 6 months they have been pushed out as a PVP faction. lucky for you in about two days 2.0 comes, and you get a mission about every 10 levels. ( 8 missions total, and while that is not a lot at least they are long, and good missions. also you share 5 more with the feds, and there are the weekly missions that are stating the first of august. ) but the klingon faction really needs to a lot of love.

How cool would it be if you could do a misson that saved a house from romulan treachery? And in the process meet Worf?

How cool would it be if you could board a federation ship and steal the defense grid codes by interrogating and torturing a starship captain?

How cool would it be if you could invade the shipyards at Mars?

How cool would it be if you could hijack a runabout and infiltrate a federation detention center and spring your klingon comrades?

How cool would it be if you could find yourself face to face against an ancient enemy spoken of only in myth and legend? And obtain the sword of kahless the unforgettable?

How cool would it be if you could gain house of mogh and kahless brow ridges? Or your Orion female could have more Orion appropriate fashion? Or you Nausicaan could have heavy armor befitting a Nausicaan marine?

    That'd be so cool.

They should totally do some of that.

How cool would it be if all that were in at launch, or if it actually brought parity to the Klingon faction? Or how cool would it be if the devs said we could expect more? That'd be so cool.

That's crazy talk. For the devs to say you could expect more? That would never happen! dstahl would never make posts like that. Not yesterday. Not the day before. Not even in the next couple of weeks. And "more" klingon content won't be showing up on the next couple of Engineering Reports. And Klingons won't be getting anything new "by the end of August." Things like retrofit Vor'Chas and Nausicaan battleships? Vaporware. Not gonna happen. Nope.

Sure, ships are a fantastic replacement for content. I can't wait for the ships that my Klinks can't use because they haven't levelled up enough yet because of repetitive PvP and lack of content. Oh, wait...

No one was tricked and it was never a secret the Klinks were a PVP faction. Log in....join que.....pvp......repeat.

That proved to be unsatisfying to their target Klink market. That was expressed loudly. So the devs upended their plan and began making Klink PvE. So don't get bitter when someone bust out the "give them time" card.

I go to the a Ford dealership. Sit in one and insist that they redesign it to be like a BMW. The company says "ok" we will do that. I then demand they have it done in several months.

This of course, has all been said better by others.

Klingons definitely need a lot more missions but no thanks on the marrying into Klingon house, too controlling of my characters personality for my liking.

well I did have my thread that said they need to take one month to be klingon only. ( it would not fix them, but it would get a lot of klingon projects started.)

That it was unsatisfying was expressed by the target Klink market well before launch - in fact, there was a movement within the Klingon fanbase to remove the faction from launch and repackage it as a separate expansion. In other words, more than a few Klingon fans said 'take your time and do it right." AFAIC, Cryptic and Atari are responsible for the consequences of not doing so.

Besides, it's not so much the "give them time" card that bothers me - it's the "be thankful for your scraps" card. I'm waiting for the "let them eat cake" people to chime in any second now...

But I also want to stress they still need to be adding FED mission aswell as klingon, just because Fed has so much more does not mean it should stop

Sure but the Klingons could do with getting a large amount of the focus until they get a bit closer to the Feds.

no doubt but one month with the main going to the klingons focus is not going to kill the feds.

    Exactly....

They could just snap their fingers and content will just magically appear out of thin air, it is just greedy and selfish of them for not doing that.

Everyone knows programming and CGI art is magical, it takes no time at all to do....

    /sarcasm off

Mainly because I am curious, is the point of this statement to say that you support all the choices Cryptic and crew have made to date 100%? I realize that this is most likely not the case but it seems, at least from my point of view, as if you are defending the current state of the game as if it couldn't have been done better.

I was making light of someone's assumption that programming takes no time at all to do.

Everyone has their own idea of what they want in the game, my wants are different than yours (I can guarantee it).

Do I support all of Cryptic's choices 100%? No

But they are doing well for the amount of time they had to develop the game (2 years). The deadline was not their choice, it was CBSs choice due to Perpetual sitting on their hands for several years and doing nothing with it. If Cryptic had not stepped up and taken the IP with the deadline there would be no Star Trek MMO, and that would be worse than what we have now (IMO).

We have hit the 2 1/2 year mark at this point, every other MMO has had at least 4 years of development before their game was ready.... I have lots of patience and can wait for what need to be don, to be done.

The key factor is, I want the game to succeed And I am mature enough to be able to wait for it to gain it's stride. It may take another 4-6 months (for a total of 3 years of development). Which is still less time than any other MMO had to develop.

So it is what it is due to circumstance, I understood that in open beta, and I know it will get better, but it won't happen instantly, anyone that thinks that it will magically get better in one month has no clue whatsoever.

Haha. They can't win. People want content, they give them content. But that sucks. People want uniform customization, but that sucks. People want ships, but that sucks.

I have ridden this ride before. It doesn't go anywhere.

I'll tell ya what I'd like to see. Instead of this dribble-drabble of bits and pieces of customization and PvE content, I'd like to see dstahl come out and say something like:

"Ok, we're going to try a different tactic. We're going to approach the Klingon faction like a whole new expansion. We'll review the current state of the faction top-to-bottom, we'll work up a vision for what we want the faction to be and how it'll be different from Starfleet, and we're going to dedicate a team to implement that vision. We'll also make sure to give you guys regular updates on our progress. However, it's gonna take some time - I'd like to say six months, but, realistically, probably a lot longer.

In the meantime, we'll continue releasing faction-specific and faction-agnostic PvE content, but don't expect faction-changing stuff until that expansion."

I could live with that. In fact, that's probably the only way to "fix" the Klingons (and the only valid way to release future factions). So long as Cryptic maintains transparency with the develpment of such an expansion, the little trickle of content won't feel like table scraps to keep the dog from barking.

I believe most people will be disappointed in STO because they only get to choose between being
Federation or Klingon and the ongoing time subcription which is really monthly or yearly server
rates like EVE Online. The game itself is mimicking other online games like Voyage Century Online and Jade Dynasty. Because even in this game, joining a fleet and the missions are the same as what's done in the two I mentioned before. At least Star Trek Starfleet Command you could be the Gorn, Romulan, Orion and
others. Members are shouldering enough expenses in buying all kinds of add-ons, upgrades and so on for their ship, charcters, crew, etc. is why STO should drop the server rates. America is going through
a terrible time of trying to struggle to surive; most people just can't afford to shell out alot. Even some other countries in the world can't afford the prices. IMVU makes millions yearly and they don't charge server rates. But then neither does Voyage Century Online or Jade Dynasty. I agree that the game may not be much starting out but it can improve over time. There's bound to be all kinds of problems starting out that needs fixing.

I would like to also add that I can see why the game involves episodes and not allow members to freely do as they see fit. Or given delegation of authority within the two factions, other than commanding starships. Like for example ,why members can't gain positions of power like Federation or Klingon Presidents and other high chain of commands. It has to be because (1) not enough players (2) lack interested of inside duties (3) careless orders carried out that wouldn't at all properly depict the particular faction. It would be nice if one can gain more earnings in the game by extracting rich deposits from asteriods and compact floating debri in space into recyclable metals or restored starships loss in battles. I wonder if anyone has
notice the graphics look like that of Star Trek paperback novels, rich in fantasy flair.
