I might not get it...

I just made Captain yesterday, so there is still quite a bit of content ahead of me, but looking back over the last 30 levels, I don't feel like I'm commanding a starship in the Star Trek Universe. Does anyone else feel that way?

The actual missions seem to be a lot of, "go to TRIBBLE system, destroy 5 groups of enemy ships, beam down to the planet, kill about 50 bad guys, beam up the hostages, return to ship, kill 2 more groups of enemy ships, destroy main battleship, mission accomplished"

Then the "defend the TRIBBLE sector block" or "Deep Space Encounter" missions seem to have you warp into a small planet/moon system with endlessly re-spawning groups of ships scattered throughout the system

I was fighting a group of Romulan Birds of Prey the other day, and I was wondering why the other group of Romulan ships that was a mere 18km away didn't come and attack. Are their sensors so poor that they can only see other ships within 10km? Also, I have single-handedly destroyed massive fleets of enemy starships, three to four ships at a time. Where do they keep coming from? If everyone else is doing as well as I seem to be, the Klingons and Romulans/Remans must have lost 100,000 ships or more by now, but they still seem have the same amount of territory and aggression toward Federation ships.

I have yet to arrive in a planetary system that wasn't full of asteroids or doesn't have a bright nebula in the background. I look up at night in my back yard and see black sky and lots of stars. Are we the only planet in the galaxy that lives in an empty portion of a solar system?

How come my impulse engines are limited and my warp drive is inoperable in combat? I wanted to try out the Picard Maneuver, but I couldn't go to warp.

How come outside of the Sirius sector block, there aren't any neutral or friendly NPC ships? It seems like all I see are Federation ships or enemies wandering the galaxy, with no destination, destined to randomly intersect with Federation ships and start a conflict.

Obviously this post was tongue-in-cheek, but seriously . . . is this the direction the developers want for this game? Are they working on making space seem "bigger"? Or having some sort of cause-and-effect based on the missions/encounters we have? I know we're at war, yadda yadda, but at the rate we're killing everyone and everything that moves, it seems like we'll have the galaxy conquered in no time.

Do I just not "get it" and am expecting a more out of this than I should?

Well the space junk and asteroids are the to give your sense of depth. Without it there would be no telling where your are in retrospec to your goal or opponent. A lil outa context but a nessessary eliment.

There are limits to the game and it is still in developement do to the rushed release. I don't know if there will ever be warp combat tactics. I don't know if the game deveoplemnt will allow such things.

But I recomend you put that into the combat feedback forum as a sudgestion.
The game is lacking alot of the Star Trek Unviers but they will add as much as they can when they can, until then I sudgest we put as much presure on the Management of Cryptic to invest alot into this game to keep us all here and bring in our friends.;)

Do what everyone else is doing and wait till season 2 hits, which should be 3 more days. It's supposed to add SOME of the content we were promised before launch, including ship interiors. Overall, this game has potential, and I hope you stay with it for a bit, but it's one of the 'Meh' games right now.

It will be better, but right now, it's just not what I think we were promised.
