Hello guys, I'm a huge fan of Star Trek and was really excited about this game. Then when I tried to buy it the site said that it was not available in South america. So now I'm limited to playing the demo  and I'm wondering how it I could get a version of the full game.

is it a legal issue or a distribution problem ?

If its just distribution, I'm sure somebody in billing or support could help you figure out how to get a copy down there.

I think it's probably distribution. If so, who should I speak to if I want a copy (actually I think 2 copies since my Dad wants to play as well)?

It's really all dog TRIBBLE. They're lazy, that's the issue.

Don't buy from Atari.com, get from somewhere else. I'm from Brazil and got at it gamestop.

Yeah but i wouldn't recommend getting it.. there were some issues with steam version at launch and i'm not sure if these were fixed. Things like data file corruption during updates forcing you to redownload the entire client.

Don't try D2D either, it has the same stupid lazy problem as Atari, they couldn't be bothered to get sales license over here.

What is the issue with D2D? I purchaed my pre-order there and had no issues with the download or keys.

In fact, I have not had any issues with D2D in all of my 50+ purchases over the last few years.

Then again, I have had no issues with my few purchases from Steam either.. I just hate having to keep their app running to play any game I purchase from them.

I have 139 games in steam and have had almost no problems with any of them, never had one with STO on Steam either.

Ou tof Curiosity Ruivo, how do you pay for the game? I just rechecked the subscription options but I'd like to know how you did it since you're down here as well.

    Same.

I buy almost all my games there now, been using it for years. Dont have to keep track of any discs, or product keys..... it's all in my account... and I can log-on anywhere I have it installed...and have access to all the games I bought.

very cool system it is indeed.

and .... They have EXCELLENT sales...and often :)

Paypal. I had ordered a new Credit Card to get STO (all new credit cards these days are international) back in january, but it didn't arrived in time for the headstart, so i bought Paypal credits through Mercado Livre (or mercado libre in there :p).

Although in any case i would have bought through Paypal, there's really no better option anywhere.

In any case, about D2D, i tried to buy through three places. First Atari.com.. told me it wasn't avaible in Brazil. Then through D2D... wasn't avaible in Brazil... so i went to Gamestop and it worked like a charm.

The Steam issue was well documented in these forums, some people experienced it some didn't. :)

Don't know, but i wouldn't recommend tying your CC directly to Cryptic. Or any MMO company for that matter.. Register a Paypal account and use it there. It will tell you if it's cleared for international use or not and will never charge you anything you don't know.

There are STO players in Asia, some bought from Amazon and have it (expensively) couriered to your address, some bought via D2D and also works from experience. Or get someone to buy the game, bring it back to your home country ;)

So unless your home country either bans the STO web site, you can just buy the game, install it and have fun!
