Okay before I start a little rant on this I just want to say this. I honestly don't mind the C-store at all, and I in fact understand part of the reason it's there.
However, ehy are both the Kzinti and the Aenar going on the C-Store?
First the Aenar: The Aenar should be put in the game free with the Andorians since first off the Aernar are only just a subspecies. They are not that different from Andorians in the first place(Just blind and white and have extreme telepathic skills). Instead of putting them into the C-store and instead of shuffling them in with the Andorians this is how it could be an easy fix. You put them in the Andorian race choice (Which would be changed to Andorian/Aenar) then the the next page would have two tabs: Andorian and Aenar. THere you choose respectivly like race and continue on normally.
Kzinti: The Kzinti which i'm assuming is going to be for the Klingon faction (yes? no?) and if so, is ridiculous for it to be not put in for free. The klingons already need more content and i'll tell you what, to think klingon players are going to pay for more content when they should be implemented for free!
I agree that items are going to have to be put in the C-store but there is a limit Devs.

They could be both C-store and non C-store content if they add them as bridge officers.
I somewhat agree with the Aenar.
I hope they will be more then just white andorians... (i want moving Antennas!)
For the Kzinti...
sorry but NO!
the Federation had to pay for EVERY SINGLE NEW RACE in the game.
Klingons are treated equally at least in this regard so stop whining.
Also i never seen a Kzinit in Star Trek...?
no i did not watch the animated series!
So Cryptic better has some kind of explenation and storyline for this race in mind (to introduce it to the usual TV watching audience) or they risk degrading this game to a pure costume game...
Catians allready were a hard stretch but Kzinti never made it into any of the not Comic Series so as far as i am concerned they dont exist.

This is what I always said was going to happen when they started to put Klingon stuff on the C-Store. All those threads this past week about the Klingon faction ... and how upset and rant-filled they were. But I kept trying to point out that if they put a new ship or race for the KDF on the c-store ... posts like the quoted above would happen.

The Kzinti were going to be in Enterprise had it been green lit for a 5th season and the devs have already stated there's no problem from CBS with them being in the game.
You could EASILY make an Aenar in the Alien Creator. All the parts are there. The colors are there.
I don't know about the other one. I don't really care about either.
My Klingon Character Torsha is one of the Aenar, and I wote up a little bit in her Bio how she became to serve the Klingon empire....
and as you can see, if you look my character up, both sides are able to create a very realistic looking Aenar species
of course she looks totally different than she does in game... The character database makes the Characters look... different for some reason and low lighting too
*shrug* The only way I can get angry about this is if I get angry about having any races on the C-store. AFAIC, the Aenar and the Kzinti are no more iconic than any of the races already for sale.
It sucks, and I'm not happy with the news, but the strongest emotion I can muster is resignation.
If it hasnt been clear by now, Cryptic will put as much on the C-Store as possible and use whatever they think will generate the most draw. That means taking what PLAYERS keep asking for on the store because... people want them
Result:
All those folks moaning for the Galaxy-X before the referral system got slammed.
Those that wanted it after the referral system got slammed
All those folks moaning for the Nebula are about to get slammed
All those folks moaning for the Excelsior are about to get slammed
All those folks begging for new races to be added are getting repeatedly slammed
The reason the C-Store is there is to pry obsessive fanatics and folks with no money sense from their cash. So far it has proven a wonderful success, good on you people !
Now, keep asking for Klingon stuff, new races and new ships. Keep giving Cryptic more items they can use to pry MORE money from you.

End of Story.
That's just how it's going to be. Cryptic stated that they're using the C-Store to 'give players what they want' because apparently the majority of subscription money, according to Cryptic, goes towards game upkeep and such. Which means the only way for them to put in more ships, more races and so on is to put them on the C-Store. Agree or disagree it's the way STO is, your only choice is to deal with it by buying what you want from the C-Store or boycotting it completely, your call.
Frankly, I think it doesn't make any sense to put the Aenar in the game as a playable species. They wouldn't even pick up a weapon. There is no believable way to explain an Aenar officer unless you redefine their whole culture.
Sadly I doubt we're going to see Kzinti in STO because the rights fo the Kzinti are offiacly owned by Larry Niven and are part of his "Known Universe" Sci-fi setting, so in reality the Kzinti are just a barrowed species from another setting. Its like trying to take the Drow from Forgotten Realms in D&D and put them into Lord of the Rings... its just not going to happen, you could use "Dark Elves".
Personaly I love the Kzinti but their place in the Trek universe is far from solid. Infact offical books and such ignore them completely (I mean the Star Trek Star Charts) supposedly they're supposed to be in the system Ursa something (I'd have to look it up) but acording to the offical Star Charts that system is just an empty system and in the far north of the map you see "The Patriarch" which was obviously left blank and unexplaind for the Kzinti but the truth is since they are part of Known Universe its hard to secure continued rights for Trek. I think creating a rip of version would be the best way to go (Like Dark Elves vs. Drow) that way Trek and Known Universe would be seperated.

Larry Niven has no problem with the Kzinti being in STO, neither does CBS. The developers have already confirmed that they're going to be in the game as a C-Store race.
Niven created his Known Space setting as a sort of Sci-Fi sandbox and people are free to use elements from it and set things within it as long as it does not blatantly conflict with his own works.
I'd also note 'Star Charts' is not officlal, the only official things are what you see in the movies and on TV as far as CBS is concerned, not that official canon has any bearing in STO, which is its own 'soft' canon.

They wouldn't have announced the presence of the Kzinti unless CBS had approved it. While I agree that their presence in Trek canon is 'acknowledged but shaky' -- some people believe TAS shoudl not be canon, others (and CBS) do -- it does appear that they are approved for use. Apparently Larry Niven gave the go-ahead for them to appear in the season of Trek that did not get filmed, and they did appear in TAS a couple of times and were mentioned a few more. As I said, 'acknowledged but shaky.' Starfleet Command (the game) used a different name for their Kzinti when they derived their fluff from Star Fleet Battles, but apparently that is no longer necessary.
Speaking for myself, I'm genuinely surprised that they went to the trouble to add them. They have slightly more licensing issues than the Caitans or any other race. But apparently these issues have been overcome.

They worked out the licencing of the Kzinti for Enterprise season 5. But the show was not picked up. It seems likely that they have the rights for them in STO. Besides Cryptic has already stated the Kzinti will be in game.

There's no way to win here.

fix the rest of the game...... I'm good with what I have character-wise for the time being.
