Too many officers.

Hello, I apologize, if this has already been mentioned, but can the number of officers we get be reduced? I have just hit RA with my alt and again I have two missions for new officers because I have no more room. I do not know how others, but I always stick with officers I recive from the beginning. Once all my ship slots are full, I do not use any new ones. And if I do, then just for training of the current ones. How many times have we seen a major changes in officers? None in TOS, one in TNG when Tasha Yar died, one in DS9 where Jadzia Dax died, none in VOY and none in ENT.
The standard of training at the Starfleet academy really had to drop when we have so many officers during a wartime.
I think officers should be a unique comodity. We should get one for free when we hit a new level, but even this would be too many. Player should take care of his/her officers, train them, take care of them, which I hope most of us do and I hope I am not alone with a pool full of candidates :-)

If you don't need your officers, you can try "selling" them on the exchange.

I would like if we could train our "Old" officers for superior traits, but since these bridge officers are sometimes the only way to get a skill, less of them would be terrible.

    agree with the op

complication as addtion of both number and abilities is not the kind of complication i find entertaining

better is the complication of keeping those you have, alive

    I disagre with the OP,
With the advent of BO trading and the ability to have several BO load-outs, I think we are fine with what we have - but we do need the ability to store unused BO's among our crew so we can rotate them easier.

You don't have to have a new BO join. You can use them to train your existing BO, or you can simply dismiss them (Or trade them?).

I agree that it would be nice if we could pass on traits from a new BO to our old ones. I'e traveled with a couple of my BOs since my first mission... I'm not going to trade them in for a "newer model" :P

There are already ways to limit your boffs, make use of those. The late in game boffs have better traits and rare powers, but you can keep the originals if you choose, just dismiss new ones you think you don't need.

Just remember you can't get them back after you realize you now have a use for that rare power they might have had.

Also don't be afraid to consume them as trainers.

I'd not like to see the frequency of new officers diminished.

Having a good pool of candidates allows one to build the crew they desire. If BOs were limited I'd have to resort to running multiple alts to obtain the more desirable ones I seek for my main toon. Not fun all that grinding up alts just to amass comodities/BOs. The truely good BOs are priced astronomically in the exchange if you can even find what you're looking for.

OP if it's just you not liking the the excess officers on your manifest why not just put the ones you know you'll never use up on the auction-block at reasonable prices. They sell fast if priced below market value.

Though when Bridge Officer Trading gets implemented you could trade fully skilled, trained, and promoted BOs to friends and fleet-mates for Cash/Items/Favors/Status...

Is there a limit of how many candidates you can have?

Cause at the moment, whenever I get a new officer I simply leave him as a candidate until such a time as I think I need him :P

There are plains to use ALL your crew. It may be a year or more before it happens there was reason for having so many iof them. They seem to be going down the road of buffs your extra crew will most likey give you a buff or debuff.

yeah, we also get too much XP, can you slow down levelling so it takes 725 years to hit RA5, and could we get less loot and fight five million times as many enemy mobs, and could we get all damage nerfed to 1% of its current, and could we get all skills put on four hour cooldowns, and could you make it cost a hundred million honor to promote a BO, and could you...

    .... /facepalm

i have noticed the bridge officers on later missions are rare than on earlier missions. It does not appear they have move skills just more unique. So that is positive about bridge officers on later missions.

if we can "sell" the BOFFS, we should be able to stick em in the bank, I know as far as role playing sticking your officer in the "bank" dosnt really make sense, but neither does selling them on the open market like orion slave girls...just a thought

if you dont want to sell or destroy them just mail the officers to yourself, free storage for five of them per mail and claim them when you need them. :)
