I run a setup of several boxes, typically gaming on one while working/browsing/anything on another. For ease of use I use Input Director, which has worked fine for everything so far - except in STO for some reason.
When it transfers the mouse/keyboard to another box, it still continues to record the *mouse clicks* inside STO (on the box I transferred from) - if the STO window is active. (that is, if I have another window above it, sure it's fine - but I'll typically run any game in fullscreen on the gaming box so...)
Locking command/input doesn't work, either. Doesn't matter whether it's free transfer or locked, STO will still record the mouse clicks. To show an example of how annoying this is: browsing a site and opening a link in a tab - middle mouse button - and suddenly seeing my ship take off full speed on another monitor from registering that click. Being "parked" at a system and shifting over control to read reddit or slashdot or what have you for a minute, clicking anything and suddenly seeing myself/my ship on the STO box "invisibly clicking" the enter system button -> load screen -> etc. Things like that.
I have not experienced this in any other game so far, so I'm at a loss.
While I can live with it the way it is, it's unecessarily annoying and I really don't see why it should be happening.
If I run windowed, if the STO window is the active one on the box - it happens (if I make say a firefox tab active above it, it works fine). If I run fullscrened (which is what I do 99% of the time, it being a box pretty much solely for gaming) it happens 100% of the time.
I have never had this happen with any other game, including games that lock mouse input (where I can't transfer across boxes without unlocking first). I can work with it, no doubt, but it's a very annoying "minor" issue that will eventually lead me to exit the game on the gaming box so I can "browse in peace" a for a few minutes on another box.
EDIT: The gaming box is the master box for all peripherals. I transfer mouse/keyboard *from it*, and they are physically connected to the gaming box - if that helps at all. I have not tested whether it will still happen if the master box for keyboard/mouse is another one, and I'm too buzzed right now to mess with the million wires.
