I was going to begin this post with a paragraph on my views concerning the C store itself, but then I figured that's not the way to get the Devs to read past my first line.
I have a suggestion that might appease in some way the customers, and also allow Cryptic to do what they have done with the extra slot choices.
Ships: There is already the Gal-x on the store at $25. The price for the upcomming Nebula and Excelsior has not been set to my knowledge, but general worry is that they'll be similar to the Galaxy X.
The other concern is buying extra slots for pretty much all the major characterisation parts of STO.
Some people like to collect the ships in game. AS the game progresses, without doubt more ships will be added, and the collectors are going to feel they're being forced into making cash purchases of slots on the C store in order to continue collecting what they enjoy.
The compromise I propose is that a ship sold on the C store, should have a slot for it to use included in the price. This would be account wide, since the ship is account wide (unless that is to change also).
The extra slots already being sold on the C store can remain as they are, and would be for those that just want more existing ship choice from what is readily available.
The same can be done for the uniform slots. It could even be expanded out, so 2 uniform purchases would grant a new slot instead of just 1. That's a 480 cp purchase but isn't as much of a sting as buying a uniform +slot to use it in.
I don't have an answer for the BO slots unless a single slot could be included in the cost of a borg BO.
There you have it. I don't know if the devs are willing to read anything further on this at this point but it's just an idea I had.
The compromise i offer cryptic is either provide a service where i can purchase multi character items OR i wont buy them. I think thats a fair compromise.
it would have been nice to have a extra slot for my gal x so i didnt have to dump my runabout BUT this is cryptic they have shown that the big $$$ is more important than customer satisfaction OTHERWISE they would have realised the big muck up with ship slots / costume slots and sorted it a day after it went live.
The fact they are just avoiding it shows they arnt going to reverse it.
That I think would be a good compromise. The beancounters would fold the price of the slot into the price of the ship, but hopefully it wouldn't be too egregious, and it would still leave pretty much more than enough slots for anyone wanting to keep all their ships and experiment with a couple-few more.
I do doubt that the Excelsior and the Nebula will be $25. They'll probably be closer to $10-$15. I think they priced the Galaxy-X so high because it was recently part of the R5F program. At least, I *hope* they don't price the Neb and the Excelsior at $25. I do not think they would get the sales that they would expect. But that's neither here nor there.
No. No compromise. Let Cryptic stick to the original plan: the C-Store is for bling and bling alone*; everything else can be earned or bought in-game with in-game currencies.
It starts with a $25 ship with special features and goes downhill from there. Quickly.

Cryptic isn't going to get the message so long as they continue to make so much money with their overpriced "services". The only way to get them to listen is to pay with your wallet (or don't). Until then, they'll just view posts like this as a singular disgruntled player, not the voice of the majority. And why would they listen while they're raking in the dough?
They have no reason to make a compromise, because we've not given them a reason to do so.
By the way, expect this thread to get moved to the C-Store forum... aka; swept under the rug.
