A Very Serious Issue: Please don't do this Cryptic

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
So I am in love with Season 2. The new levels, new tasks, first contact, fluid space, borg/undine, Dabo!, everything. I love playing it and I really look forward to it coming to Halodeck. As do many of us.

One very serious issue though. I've heard rumors that the 2nd Season Patch will be put out on the 27th. Starcraft ][ also comes out on this day.

My girlfrlend and I only have the one pimped out gaming computer. It's hard enough already with me trying to play STO and her wanting to play STO and Fallout and whatnot but up until now I've been able to get some time in on STO whenever I get off work.

Once Starcraft ][ comes out I can pretty much stay clear of the computer for awhile. She's been waiting 10 years for it. There are Starcraft ][ release parties planned. This is a big deal for these people.

PLEASE put the patch out before then. Give us just a little time with our wonderful new season before the computers are taken over by rabid Starcraft fans.

Even just a couple of days.
:)

Patch isn't ready now. I'll be shocked if it's ready by the 27th. Whatever goes live on that day will have some huge incomplete-ness with it.

I think the plan is to push it live around Tuesday.

Heh. When Season 2 goes live, I wonder how long it will be before people begin to grasp that Season 2 was/is being made by the same folks who gave us Season 1 and the stuff that came before, including Klingon scanners, Sirius Sector Block DSEs with level 45 baddies, anomalies that can't be scanned, missions with missing bad guys, uneven PVP matches that we can't leave (in anticipation of some sort of penalty for early withdrawal), Zerg-Fest STFs, and <insert your favorite non-fixed bug or utter violation of the spirit of the Star Trek IP here>.

If anything, it seems like there are fewer people working on the game than before, so...

    Yay?

Cynically, and if Ivan_Cryptic knows his job, the 27th was/is targeted specifically so Season 2's release gets lost in the Starcraft 2 pr / pundit / reviewer / fan review carnival.

It's similar to government or businesses releasing negative news late Friday afternoon so it gets lost in the weekend.

IMO, there is nothing remarkable about Season 2 that makes a compelling game adoption statement. It's not a bad update, nor is it a compelling one. It's another patch to fill in some of the open holes from the premature launch.

Yep, I made it when we heard about the borg tribble. :) I was stoked to see they came out kindda the same.

Dude, go find a corner to cry in and stop shitting on other threads. It's getting SO old.

What did you think you would gain from that reply. Do you think someone would read it and think to themselves "You know what, He's right. **** this game. I am going to find out who this person is and make love to him due to the face that they he has such a strong opinion and is not afraid to express it in such a cutting way and without even using any run on sentences like the guy who started the thread does."

    Really?

Because I have news for you. It's not. People don't think that. People think "Oh My God another whiny twerp who feels the need to **** all over everything. I wish he would just cancel his forums account and go find some Call of Duty forum to **** all over with his annoying opinions"

oh man, I remember when I shared a computer with my sisters when I was 14. Couldn't even get on to do homework between them and AIM. I feel for ya man, but if it's any consolation - I doubt 2.0 is going live on the 27th

wait, so just becouse you guys want to play another game the rest of us who does not play starcraft should wait?

im playing sto, thats why im here i don't care about the other game.
so if people want to play starcraft, then let them, but don't stop the rest of us from getting the content to play.

Everyone's entitled to them. Even you. :p

Curious, though, that despite your indulgence in the use of colorful language you never actually quite manage to disagree with (or refute!) my 'annoying opinions'. You just seem upset that I expressed them. Yes. Most curious.

Heh, that was my point. I want to keep playing STO but my girlfriend (Who also loves STO) will be stealing the computer for Starcraft. Just a fun post, nothing big and personally I don't really care for Starcraft anyway.

    ;)

Sides, I was hoping they would release it sooner (as it looks like they are)

So cya in the new sectors! Enjoy setting up your trophies! :)

Na, I was just upset that when people are trying to sit around a josh with each other people like you have to come in and whine. There are always people like you though. If you're watching a movie with a group and enjoying it there is that one who is picking it apart and crapping all over everyone else who is just trying to enjoy it.

Opinions are great. Being critical is great. Being critical of a game is great and peoples harsh critiques of the game (and Cryptics willingness to listen to them) is what makes a great. Critique away. But there IS a time and place for everything. You don't ALWAYS have to whine.

It seems like you can't post a thread here without someone coming in and *****ing. It would be one thing if I said "So what do you think of the upcoming patch" or "This is what I think of this, what do you all think" but no, I was talking about something you you came and complained about something totally different.

    So whatever.

    :)

Anyway, go play the game and have fun for petes sake!

Have you been to Fluid Space? Played some Dabo. Dude, there are some awesome things in this patch, go have a beer relax and enjoy yourself. If you can't do that why even bother?

There is never enough time for STO! :)

Even after a 3 hour run I wanna do another. Like a kid at Disney.

    Star what??

Starcraft.... Nah not interested... Played in the past but it does not hold my attention. The old one sucked to much and from what i saw, the new one does not look really better.
