I'll admit, the first time I ran through the new ship interiors I was pretty excited. However, after I realized that that 1) they serve no functional purpose(much like the LT "captain's table") and 2) they are just another instanced map I became pretty unimpressed. I'm a little confused what about these interiors took 6 months to make? All you do is go to your turbolift and your loaded into an instance. That basic mechanic was in the game since launch.

I believe they've been working on them for four months and probably most of the time was spent putting together the six interior maps. I'm pretty sure that the same guys who designed the new mission areas for the Klingons are the same guys that handled the ship interiors so they didn't spend 100% of their time on them.
Also they will have at least two functions when they go live, they just hav't been put to tribble yet, diplomatic missions and a minigame in the science lab.

Rpers are going to go nuts over them , and this game has a huge RP base
Everything that's in season 2 (except the weekly missions) will be put onto Tribble this coming friday July 23rd. According to the devs, that'll include the ship interiors and minigames for ship interiors
I can't wait until I can court martial that stupid Science officer in my ready room. You know, the stupid Ambassador's kid who keeps putting "Thermal Vents" in the toilets ?........:rolleyes:
...I am a hater of the HUUUGE hallways and extremely high ceilings...
Same here.
There are HUNDREDS of hours of references for ship interiors, and Cryptic insists on ignoring all of it. If the camera can't handle tight interiors... FIX THE CAMERA! Don't make the world look silly to compensate for a poor camera system.

Woo Woo !
+ 200
I think they can correct this problem. They may even reduce one third of the height of certain ceilings.
Clearly, we do not need to see the top of his head and all the contents of the room at the same time. In the end, it looks like nothing. This is too big, disproportionate.
In the same time, we need the ShuttleBay and more.
I was surprised that the ship interiors serve no functionality - at all.
I realize the research minigame and poker are coming post Season 2 but functionality was the most requested feature for ship interiors and it was left on the wayside.

Maybe there was a last minute bug that needed exterminating before the minigames went to tribble, it probably wasn't left on the wayside on purpose.
would also be nice down the road to have quarters for each BO and to be able to decorate your own quarters as well. on that note i would like my doctor in sickbay and so on and so forth.
it's not a problem of camera technology. it's just the third person nature of the game. you always have and always will see disproportionately sized rooms and hallways in third person games because it looks and controls terrible at realistic proportions. tho cryptics are pretty large even for that.
case in point, dragon age.
the other factor is AI. if they intend on the possibility of tactical missions in your ship interior they want big hallways.

Not quite what I meant.
The minigame for research was taken back for redesign to make it "more fun."
However, judging by the engineering reports, the only things our ships are good for then will be:
1) Consumables Research Minigame
2) Poker
3) Roleplaying
That's a bit of a disconnect from those who were hoping for ship repairs and healing injuries in their sickaby (which would give us reason to visit our ship, if it wasn't poker night).
I hope we'll see poker, some kind of medical mini-game, and some kind of engineering mini-game soon. Otherwise I have absolutely no reason to ever "go" there, and that is a real shame.

Poker seems interesting, can't wait to see that on Friday (hopefully)

YOu know how hard the devs have been working on the Interiors?!

You could go buy a deck of cards and check out poker now. It's hardly the crowning achievement of the electronic gaming world. S2 is as big a snooze as this game as been all along, and everything coming with it is too little, too late.
Poker is slated for post Season 2 (so August to September-ish).
I'm still hoping that we can make repairs or heal to our ships or personnel in engineering or sickbay
I'm wondering why that hasn't been put in already, unless i've missed an engineering report somewhere. It'd be a pretty useful addition. I mean, you didn't see the Enterprise warp all the way back to Spacedock every time Captain Picard suffered from an ingrowing toenail or the ship lost a few windows in an ion storm. This last part is meant as humour by the way, in it's proper application

Speak for yourself, lol. I'm really liking all the new stuff that's coming out and am looking forward to more.

True. Existence precedes essence.
Getting the appearance is the first step needed before moving on to how we interact.

Please take your own advice
The amount of time invested in a thing does not automatically imbue it with the properties of being functional, fun, or even well thought out.
