I thought the dev's said that the interiors for the ships were gonna be smaller, instead of huge, but the corridors still seem larger than they should be.
otherwise I like them, especially the ready room. I'm sure more variety will come out (prays to god that they aren't all thrown into the C-store)
I'd like to see the ability to customize the variouse rooms, like have a variety of engineerings or sickbays, and then choose which one you want.
Also, when I was testing today, the crew movement seemed weird. I had crewmen standing on consoles or pressing nonexistant buttons.
I don't think they're ready for Holodeck yet, still need some work.

They were also supposed to be a little less bluer too... Though, rumor is that when UGC finally gets rolling, we can do whatever the hell we want with these interiors.

Not excatly, we still have to stay within guidelines for canon...CBS approved and all (which is good) I am hoping to get a less blue interior myself....notably with the consoles being more of a TNG style and more white/yellow lighting.

Great minds think exactly alike sometimes. I was SOOOOOO going to do that as well. I don't like the all blue on top of blue with a side dish of blue interiors. GIVE ME MORE THAN ONE COLOR! TNG really did a great job with that especially the cool looking councils.
im sure we will get a few style choices. but dont lie to yourselves, some are going to the cstore.
which is fine really, cuz the ones that go to the cstore wouldnt be made otherwise
Be nice to have say 3-4 diff. layouts/patterns for each type of ship. Kinda weird flying a Defiant and having a humongous interior with things that don't belong there.
In reference to the interiors being smaller, if I'm not mistaken the Devs actually said the opposite at one point (that they'd be large).
The reason being is that the ship interiors are all using existing locations seen througout the game (starbase interiors, NPC ship interiors from missions, etc), which were all designed around combat...and thus, made much larger to accomodate all the action.
They simply don't (or atleast, didn't at the time) have any smaller interiors because they never built any. I imagine it's probably a big deal to redesign a good portion of interior maps you already have (not to mention building, testing, etc) so they basically just planned to use existing interiors to build the player ship interiors.
Maybe something changed and they've said they're making new, smaller interiors...but not too long ago they said they were using the ones they already had.

Well, in Darren's thread about what the dev's are working on, he has pics of the smaller interiors, and I think they have a discussion buried in there of what the dev's said about it. I thought I saw someone say (odd saying that) that there will be large interiors for missions in the ship, and small interiors for immersion.

The only difficult part to parse from that thread was that dstahl's screenshots he posted (from way back when) had no character models as a frame of reference.

Exactly. The screenshot you posted, linked below, clearly shows us what we have now when you take into account that you can see the old barn doors. Scale in your character next to those doors and you can see that the 'smaller' interiors are not actually any smaller.
I remember hearing about getting two versions - non-combat and combat - but it doesn't seem like that idea stuck for one reason or another. It doesn't change the fact that even the elephant interiors look amazing.
I would like it so that you could acess consoles on your bridge or in your quarters or ready room. Also being able to interact with your crew would be nice also. What about sounding the differnt alerts. Come on who hasn't thought about sound Red Alert on their bridge and seeing the Lights and hearing the alarms go off. Also seeing what the rest of the ship lookslike with the crew going to their battle Stations. I also think that there needs to be more than just Engineering and Crew Desk. What about the Shuttle bay where you can have your runabout or shuttle that you own. and then leave you ship. What about a view screen that can show you live feed from the game.
I would like to say as a Life-time member there should be breaks when it comes to buying things from the c-store. What you guys could do would be give everyone a free ship interior respec so that we can customize of ship to out taste. I feel that we the comsumer should get something like this. You the Devs, may not like this idea, however I will be one the first to say I would be williing to test any ideas you have based on all these posts regarding interiors.
One last thing will you guys make it possilbe so that when our toons are on our bridges that we can do more than just sit and the big chair and roam the deck? (Let us have battle drills and then based on the response give increase or decrease of passive powers for a day regarding your ship fighting ability. Have an sickness on board and have to quarnitne that ship before it can get off. The last one fight intruders that mangage to get on board and stop them.)
Thanks for hearing me out you guys(Devs) and thank you fellow Officers on both sides for all your ides.

lean back in my Captains chair and quietly ask my science officer to make a planetary scan, then without any effort order the helm into standard orbit.
but no... I have to:
well... I cant lean in my chair really.... so I run back to the science officer ( ten full running strides mind you ) and ask her to scan the planet....... then I can either choose to yell across the olympic swimming pool sized bridge... or I can run again 14 full strides to the helm to give the order.......
I don't get why the halls are so big though. The turbolifts are smaller and have no camera problems. Also, the pathing seems kinda bad. Good things its in testing still. Hopefully they get that fixed.

I have mixed feelings about 20 strapping, young ensigns rummaging through my quarters.

they have had pathing issues in this game (and CO) since day one. Gotten a ton better, but sheesh... coder just seems to be struggling with the source. I remember things being drawn to fire like they were moths, but I digress....
Yeah, the camera seems to do fine in very enclosed super small areas where it is non-mobile. In hallways where you have to have a chase camera, it seems to go wonky... I would think pathing is the issue again, and somehow they cannot seem to get the camera to follow a tighter course and still maintain visual perspectives.

Your talking about how it zooms in and then zooms out in an odd spaz attack?

But no "pay 200 Cryptic Points to have a different predesigned Ready Room."
Just give us a few different carpet colours/patterns, little things like that to get us attached and make it personal.

No Kidding !
I'm still a bit annoyed they did that with bridges....

But thats not TOS. Thats from a Voyager episode.
Even in TOS, they had their own quarters. That particular picture is supposed to be on the Excelsior, and that may have been specific to that ship.

I hope they fix the horde of crewmen in my quarters though. Why is there an army in the captains quarters? lol.

is there really 29 seat's in here ??
:rolleyes::(

Do I demote them?
Do I throw one of Stewie Griffin's sexy parties?
I honestly can't decide.

yeah, that and sometimes it does odd random spins, dives, jumps, and f;lkafdkl(s)... it just seems to have a mind of it's own.
my vote = stationaryish...
they can cheat with a invisible one-way back wall and place the camera behind you in a way that it mimics the over the shoulder and swivel view.
just my thought, but looks to be some trickery
