Any particular reason I can't sit in my own captain's chair on my own bridge? Not that I spend a ton of time there, mind you, but how hard can it be to implement?
Is there anything more iconic in the ST canon than sitting in the captain's chair on the bridge of a starship?
We're working on the tech for this. I don't have an estimate on when the tech will be finished or when it will be hooked up to the existing maps, but I assure you we're working on it

I would hazard a guess that part of the 'hard' part is making all the chairs and places to sit...well sit-able. Regardless of the actual wireframe changes you have to make to the player models and the texture changes you have to make to the player model, and compensating for the players clothing on the model, and not accidentally making is so when you sit down you morph into your starship.....sitting down...

While you are at it....do you think you can fix the problem we are having on the klingon side?
I seem to have a problem with my klingon when he sits in the chair. He sits, but his feet are through the floor. It is as though his feet disappear through the deck plating....Granted my character is 6' 4" but still....my federation character is that tall and has NO PRBLEM with his feet going through the deck plating on his bridge whilst sitting in his chair.
Oh and this problem isn't just limited to one bridge....it also goes to multiple bridges from the klingon bridge packs as well.......What is being done about this? I would like to know since it is a finishing touch that makes it look like the programmers care about the character on that side..

Awesome, thanks. I hadn't really cared too much about it while we didn't have the interiors, but, now that they're going in, I think sitting is up there in my top 3 things I most want now. Unfortunately, my most wanted thing, Episode Replay, seems to keep getting pushed back, but it's good to know sitting in chairs is still being worked on. Good luck, guys!

That would be the thing he said they're working on, yes. Or part of it anyway.
I noticed that in the Season 2 build on Tribble at the moment, that if you approach the Captain's chair, an empty option box appears along the right hand side of the screen.
It only appears around the Captain's chair, so I'm guessing it's meant to be the option to sit in your chair.
My brain seems to recall that at some early point you could sit in the chair without emoting, but it involved 'beaming' onto it in a pretty stupid fashion. It could be left-over from that, or could be what they're talking about working on here.
Now we have ship interiors, though, I think a lot of them needs to be interact-able in some form or another - not just the captain's chair. Obviously we should expect functions like crafting or purchasing medical items or whatever, but also just stuff like making the replicators actually work, being able to change the paintings in your ready room and quarters to screenshots taken in-game, having the fish in your quarters customisable etc, etc, etc.
Just all these little touches, likely something that could be spawned from the same work as the stuff to make the captain's chair work, would make the ship and the game just that much more immersive and fun.
A big problem of the game is that it lacks polish and refinement, these would be a massive step in the right direction to fixing that.

please: no more emotes!
there is only one thing worse than /emote sit : /emote jump
and while you are fixing this. please make it possible to go swimming at the beach of risa ... without heavy armor.
