It would be cool if there was some way for two characters in the game to get married. It would not only be good for all the RPers out there, but it could come along with some sort of small bonus while teamed with your spouse, maybe a damage resistance or something.

Only if we get Betazoid weddings
Speaking of which, my boffs need to hit the gym...
Whilst I am a role-player and agree that it might be a good concept.
I disagree that there should be bonus' when teamed together. Why?
Couples don;t necessarily do more damage together than say, two best friends do. Or a father or son, or two strangers do.
It's unrealistic.
In many cases, if you were to get this system you wish put into game, then there should honestly be more penalties than enhancements for adventuring with your husband or wife. Why? Think real-life, and think arguments.

Disagree cpls on the rocks aways do the most damage... to each other
the last video game wedding I went to was in SWG. there was about 200 people at the wedding ( talk about lag. ), rebels on one side emps on the other, and after the pride said I do everyone attacked each other.
( because they were all flagged for PVP ) I have to say wedding in games are strange.,
don't forget to invite Me and My dog, we'll be the party-poopers....
Allfather
Dear OP, you should have Eskaton perform the service. As an allfather, and a shaman, I believe he has the credentials required to officiate. And he could probably make a very nice service up and give you some keen insight into the future of your immortal souls.
If not that, at least let him give a toast at the reception.
Why would we need weddings? With all the Rude, unfriendly anti-social persons playing this game, I dont see many friendships forming let along relationships, well unless you play with your spouse/significant other from the get go.
But out of many MMOs I've played, this game really tends to have the worst in-game community ever, while the forums are usually alot more friendlier, go figure how that happened.

First of all ... the thought of seeing a Tellarite marry a joined trill in an MU uniform. Is entertainment.
Then think of all the KDF wedding possibilities. Tiny little aliens made as short as possible for ground PVP ... given tricked out space combat abilities ... marrying all those now single and sad Aliens gussied up to be Orion women, but can't access that actual Orion women uniforms in 2.0 ...
And then toss in Eskaton saying a few words to celebrate the union of two souls ...
Simple enough really, have an audience like you get with the promotion ceramony with scripted dialogue to spout the name of the folks there. Make it a team event which requires the couple to be teamed, the NPC will take the two folks in the team and marry them.
Throw in a scripted event for the audience to cheer / salute at the conclusion. Once complete a special title 'Married' or something is granted. That is really the sum extent of what this needs to be.
There should be no extra bonus or anything. Sorry, but no.
The bonus for being married is having an ally ship to fly beside you in battle.
lol Im living in the prime universe, alot of people playing STO are very rude and unfriendly, and thats not even counting those people who enter an instance in auto group and let everyone else do the work and never says a word.

Wow, surprised it took this long for this to be mentioned.
IMHO, since there are few RP's that would use this for personal story advancement, and many more "I met you online and now we are in love, but never met, children/teens." I say we let the parents pay for it. Give a team up bonus but sell marriage packs in the c-store. $10 basic, $20 Klingon, $25 wed by Vic Fontaine, $50 full on Betazoid wedding.
Hell we should just add mounts to the game via c-store as well....

hence penalties/debuffs
Think how they will look without a bra, horrible deformed TRIBBLE that either sag or march along as rigid as TRIBBLE's.
Talk about a major turn-off.
What about a ship with an all Pakled crew? Whose main hobby is sumo wrestling? That's hot.
GREAT IDEA!!!!!!!!
Exactly. ^^
Data's kinda, you know, missing along with the Enterprise E.
I second that... Can I add his idea to my sig?
Indeed. (I have to have atleast 10 characters so this is filler)
