Since we get jet another type currency for MK XI gear I suggest the consolidation of the old exploration and honor badges/medals.
Proposal:
Instead of having different ranks of different honor madals and exploration badges, just consolidate them into general exploration and honor badges/medals, no more ranks.
So in the beginning you get 75 exploration badges in the Delta Volanis Cluster, and item range around 77-236 badges for MK II gear. In the new system you would get in the next higher cluster (Hromi Cluster) 150 Badges (2x form previous 1st order cluster) and item prices would increase to 154-472 (also 2x) for MK IV gear.
List of Multiplicators
1st Order (Delta Volanis Cluster/ Arucanis Arm /Kahless Expanse) -> Multiplicator x1*
2nd Order (Hromi Cluster, Khazan Cluster, Kahless Expanse, Azure Nebula) -> Multiplicator x2
3rd Order (Afehirr Nebula, Eridan Belt, Azure Nebula) -> Multiplicator x4
4th Order (Rolor Nebula, Betreka Nebula, Azure Nebula, ChoS Nebula) -> Multiplicator x8
5th Order (Zenas Expanse, B'Tran Cluster, ChoS Nebul) -> Multiplicator x16
[*]The ammount of points you optain here deterims what you get in the other clustes.
For the highend B'Tran that would mean you get 1200 Badges as reward for doing the exploration mission and the gear would cost between 688-3616 Badges.
The same system could be applied to the PVP Medal system.
Advantage:
- with this system you can use your old badges/medals till RA MK X gear, and maybe even higher when there will be uncommon MK XI dealers.
- Another Advantage is, the prices stay the same. Since the only thing that changes is the ammount of badges given out and item costs. Meaning in the worse case you have to invest the same time as in the current system. But since you can use the badges for all items you actually save some time.
Disadvantage:
- The only disadvantage you might have with this sort of system is some kind of "infaltion" since with every added cluster you need to put a higher multiplicator for the item and the rewars in it.
Further Thoughts:
Maybe, if cryptic is willing to do this, iit should be possible to trade this badges for marks.
11520 Exploration badges would equal one Exploration Mark, calculated as following:
- You can do B'tran every half hour = 0.5h
- A day has 24h -> 24h/0.5h=48
- Reward for doing a B'tran mission with the new system-> 1200
- Multiplying the ammount of missions doable per 24 with the reward per mission -> 48x1200= 57600
- Exploration Marks you get with your daily -> 5
- Devide total optainable badges by Marks -> 57600/5=11520
I don't know the exact number of pvp medals you can obtain in 24h, but im sure cryptic knows them and could come up with a conversion factor.
Additional comments:
I think the minor inflated look is an accaptable drawback for such a system. Especial since the system would only be modified in a minor way and it would get rid of the current mess and make the old badges usefull.
Comments
If that point then is argued by you saying you earned them after the rank, then the real question would be, "why did you even bother to do those missions when the skillpoint rewards would be too low to bother?"
Before RA its near impossible to max out say, lt.cmdr gear via badges long before you reach commander.
So I really do have to say, you coulda used them, or you wasted your time by doing those missions when you had no need to.
The error is the player, not the system
I believe you just want an easier way to just get max level gear without the max level grind. My answer is, "no."
Actually having everything purple and blue on two chars I don't need this system.
People spend marks and do exploration missions, not everyone sits in DSE grinding the fastest way to RA. For people with this playstyle the system only has benefits, since they will spend there badges in the store, cause they want green items now for there current ship at the current level and they can leftover point from previous clusters and use them. Jfyi if you didn't know there is 30min timer between exploration missions so grinding them for accumlating badgaes for later use is not really practical.
To get 1200 badges you would need to grind the 1st order clusters for 8h.... you would far out level them.
