Currently when I'm in my Escort and the sick uncle Cube has me in it's clutches I only have a few seconds to get away after I punch it's ticket so I don't explode even though I am RA 5?
Could you make it so when they explode the local sun goes Nova?
or maybe just crash the program to the desktop so powerful are they?
We get it. Borg Cube Bad.
Could we possibly get smaller explosions?
Make them Implode instead, like a sinking ship can suck you in.
And the omnipresent lingering Cube chunks are annoying blocking sight on other enemies.
I forgot what it looked like before the debrie fix, but I remember it was better.
Big ship explodes = small damage then? The idea is to stay as far away from the Cube as possible while shooting it or have something to nullify the tractor beam so you can get away.
As for staying away, I'm more of a Kirk canon Captain,
Than a pacifist Picard MMO collective need 5 people to use the toilet Captain,
So, Damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead.
I gave a few suggestions on how to make them "stronger", the fact that they sound "crazy" should inform you of how "crazy" the current explosions are. A Borg Cube is not a giant reactor, it is a "collective" of smaller components working in tandom, so the explosion should go on for awhile, but not be as powerful as a Starship going up.

So you are saying that since you prefer to go nose to nose with a borg cube instead of keeping a respectable distance they should nerf the explosions so you don't have to learn how to play smarter?
All starships are supposedly made of smaller parts, there is no "ship press" that manufactures them whole.

The odd highlighting is mine obviously but it's essentially what you're saying. I know there would be smaller explosions going off but you seem to be discounting that it *is* a powerful warp capable ship with masses of technology and weapons exploding. The few times I've seen one blow up in a show or movie everyone has been trying to get away as fast as possible. This is best shown near the end of part 2 of "The Best of Both Worlds" by Riker ordering Wesley to get the Enterprise away from the Cube before it explodes.

You just ruined my entire day. . .I was all happy imagining some huge assembly line where giant sheets of metal being stamped into starships. . .I guess the Federation never outsourced their ship design to China.
I think the borg explosions are fine as is. . .get caught, tough luck. Learn to save your evade if your going to be that close.
Wow, Thats the craziest Suggestion I have heard all day?
I was actually thinking they should make the Borg STRONGER,
They should probably be stronger, but - that they get their strength from their explosions is terribly weak. I shouldn't worry about what happens when I destroy a Cube, I should worry how I can destroy even the Cube!
Well but there is something right in the OP's post. I mean does really EVERY single ship has to blow up? How many times have we seen ships blowing? In most cases there are wreckages, the ship looses power, hull is breached, crew dies a horrible death, but they do not explode. Look at Wolf 359 batllefield. Full of wreckages, not blowns ships. Moreover even if the ship blows, there is some debris. Now we have a big boom and nohing is left. I find it really annoying having to run from every single ship I kill...

maybe a subsystem target that disables the reactor breech ?
if your team can target this system long enough or for enough damage before the cube blows ?
be a good goal to try and reach for each cube...... try to figure out where the core breech deactivation conduit is.... ( it would be nice to have multiple targets on each cube, rather than just one )
The Borg use the new and improved Trans-Warp Drive series, Therefore, a cube explosion is at Trans-Warp speed thus far more powerful than a piddly little escort going pop.:D

maybe' that' is what could be targeted then to try and disable before the cube blows.
. the cubes have a target-able area on each side ? and one side randomly has the drive core associated with it ?
First Contact - Cube blows...Just before an Akira flys by you see another fed vessel get popped by the explosion.
I don't see the reasoning; starship has one warp core = explosion, so a cube with lots of warp cores should have a smaller explosion? That's like saying a nuke with more warheads should do less damage than a nuke with only one.
I think they should increase the explosive kinetic damage on all ships - especially the cube.
I want to see the damage mods worked on - the cube just hangs around in a couple of pieces, there should be a spherical big bang with bits going everywhere. It is essentially a square death star.
If i did look correctly, the bigger the ship (at the same lvl) the bigger the explosion and the damage radius is.
That mean the the little probe when blowing up does almost no damage but the Cube does a lot more... And with a Cruiser unless my shield are down and have i have almost no hull left it does not blow me up anymore.
Well I do not have a problem with cubes or any other Borg vessels. You have to blow them up or they will regenerate :-) But as I said, there should not be an explosion from every ship we destroy. Would you serve on a vessel if you know that if you lose a fight, you die in 100% of cases? I think most races would soon run out of volunteers :-)
Sure why not? You just have to make sure you have someone sitting far off watching to hit the respawn button when it pops up and you come back to life on a 100% working ship!
But there are people who play on permanent damage levels for the "challenge" so.....
I'd be really ****ed if I had to pay to fix all that damage.
Don't the Borg cheat enough?
Let's see:
They have a torpedo that just gets rid of your shields
They always tractor beam you.
They blow up the entire system when they explode :rolleyes::rolleyes:
And ground PvE:
They can beam Protodrones in back of you.
Protodrones are weaker, but have as much firepower as a Heavy Tactical Drone.
They have this hold thing if they get withing 10 meters of you .
They can also inject you with a slow down buff also from the next state .
They can slap you across the room .
So they should add a "Realism Factor" to this game!!!
When a Borg tries to put nanites in you and you are wearing power armor, not only should the drone explode, but the EMP from it's destruction should freeze all Borg in the area while they "assimilate" that LOL.
As for the giant Cube explosions, there should be a bit of Red Matter in the final torpedo I put into it to absorb the blast!
Comments
nerf the explosions.
heh.
.

there so weak for the ever feared BORG....

All other ships are built around a warp core.
The Cube is built of many warp assemblies working together and not larger or more powerfull than any other warp cores.

I said I could deal with it.
If you look at a Starship blueprint, you will see a single warp core in it.
If you were to blueprint a Cube, you would see multiple warp core type units.
All Borg ships are built around the principle of the collective.
Kind of like an MMO....
BA-DA-BOOM !!!
....Big Badda Boom......

It should make the program crash to desktop!
Only then can the ultimate power of a Cube explosion be worshipped properly!
