Well what happens is when i steer my ship in any way it looks like she doesnt have any power in engines and just turn and fly for a while in same direction pointing to direction when i want her...looks like se is on watter with no engine...She just does not turn instantly...only graficaly and for a while she floats in direction before course change...
Welcome to the world of physics. Whether you're in space or on water, inertia will cause your ship to slide in the original direction you're facing when u turn. The game is setup to simulate inertia and provide more realism.
Btw, in advance lets not go into issues about power sliding.

Well its physics all right but this is Star Trek a SCI-FI and you cant see any of it in any series or movies so...
And more so it wasnt happening couple of patches before and in closed beta...
yes it is very annoying my ship feels like it the death star, it has the stopping distance of a large Galaxy and the turning ability of a black hole. other than that its fine
i think they have changed it for season 2 cos on trible my ship no longer drifts

What does being sci-fi have to do with it? You're right that most of the episodes showed hair-pin turning ships, but there are some cases were they used inertia for dramatic effect. One that stuck in my mind was in the last episode of DS9, there was a breen ship that turned and power-slided when the dominion retreated to Cardassia.
As for it not being in closed beta....things get improved right? Like realism.
EDIT: And yeah, its less pronounced on tribble now. Feels like a good balance between realism and gameplay.

'Selective Realism', as it were, in which simulation of inertia on certain ships is a-okay but simulation of ships being able to move in any direction including straight up or down in space is a no no.

As long as there's reasons behind selective realism, then its fine. I also do want straight up/down flight in a perfect world, but you'd have problems with how the space maps are set up to be linear with layers. If you've ever played startrek: Legacy which did have this flight control but linear maps.....well that was a disaster.
