Servers Let down again

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Well, i came back this week, was impressed with the improvements in game play especially the exchange, but totally frustrated again today with the servers. From server not responding messages to disconnected from server. I do not have this at all with any other game, inc gameplay today so its clearly an issue with this game.

Cancelled sub once again. Perhaps one day they will run proper servers so we can actually play the game, till then i think ill stick to proper mmorpg's.

Shame as i love trek

I haven't seen this problem in quite awhile. It may be an internet slow down / interruption between you and STO and since the forums aren't filled with complaints about disconnects; this is much more likely.

that not technically true. i had a firewall problem that allowed every other online game through but hated star trek.

i can say ive had hardly any server issues, (apart from when it goes down and everybody is affected) but those big crashes are rare.

computers are complex things and only one thing has to be causing an issue for stuff to go wrong. maybe it is thier servers somehow but i really dont think so otherwise everybody would be having similar problems.

i have not had this issue for several months now.
you may want to chk router settings or firewall settings.
(i know you said other games dont do it, but it cant hurt to chk)

It's all on your side. I never experience issues and the vast majority don't.

How about you get a decent computer and connection rather than blaming their servers?

It amazes me sometimes that people post just to rant and quit without ever seeing the replies.

And it does seem like he's left...so....nothing more to see here folks.

    Hey u watching! Having fun?

Ignoring that, sometimes its really just the isp. My isp is pretty draconian, being state-owned. Sometimes some games just happen to communicate through previously flagged routes, or some such. Since alot of these routes are unused and unique, they usually dont bother to reopen them.

There are tons of reasons and solutions. Of course, not playing is also an option. So cheers to anyone who takes that one.

Sorry, posted out of frustration and wish i hadnt now.
Nothing wrong with my system and speeds (getting 19 meg on average) and since i returned a week ago i havent had any issues apart from today, which has been all afternoon since i logged on.

I have ran scans on my system and still dont experience any issues with the other online games, no drop in FPS, packet loss etc. When i was ingame, a few people in my zone stated they too have had issues today.

I apologise for posting out of frustration, its just my usual game, i am so busy in it (5+ years, Mayor, Guild co-leader (guild has 449 members who have played in the last 90 days), that STO is like a get away game for me, no PMS or mails lol, can actually play it (dont get me wrong i love the other game too) so its just been a frustrating day trying to play it.

Started from scratch again this week, read alot of guides before playing, and although just a casual players have managed to get up a few ranks, made a nice sum of energy (nice for a noob anyhow lol) by scanning all annomplies in space and selling on auction house and have myself and officers all equiped with Mk II gear already.

    Sorry again for the post

No problem I know what you mean when you post in frustration when your angry.

here is the deal it sounds like some networking problems between you and the server. as you can see a lot of us, and I agree wet are not having the problem, so it sounds like an intermediary device between your router, and the server.

first try resetting your modem, and router.

if you are still having problems then run the tracert command in the CMD. you will get an out put that will look like this.

so what you need to do is
    Click start
go to run and put in CMD
the command line will come up and you need to put in Tracert 208.95.184.0
the command will run, and it will show every hop that happens. if it fails to reach 208.95.184.0 then there is a problem between you and the server. ( which would not be cryptic's fault, it would be the internet service provider )
also if it is slow that could mean that there is also a problem in your route.

the best thing to do is contact your service provider.

    also check your firewall.

You might want to post down in the PC&Tech forums. We have some dedicated forum goers that can guide you through running various networking tests. You can also put in a tech support ticket, but they won't be in the office until Monday so I would also post to the forum even if you do put in a ticket.

I know things can get wonky with an internet game. My wife will be lagging out on her mmo in the other room while I'm doing fine. A week later our situations will reverse. Sometimes I suspect it can be internet issues along the route between our home network and the servers of whichever game to which we're connected.

I got two or three of the "server not responding" messages yesterday, and went straight to the forums. After poking around for about ten minutes and not seeing anyone else having an issue, I knew it must have been me so I reset my router and now all is well. :D

Thanks for the replies and ideas.
I have done everything i can think of but i can get to the character log on stage and then when it loads i get server disconnect time and time again. With windows 7 i have that rating thing and it rates the game as 5.1 where my system is 5.9 so its not my system at fault or speed of modem

Ive checked firewalls etc, though i admit im not much of a computer person. After getting server disconnect i logged onto the other 2 mmorpgs i have and they work fine.

Whats strange is i havent had this problem since reactivating till today and played alot on Thursday and Friday.

I think whats best is to turn off computer, grab a beer and plonk my TRIBBLE in front of the TV and try again tomorrow, as your right, sometimes things correct themself. Failing that ill delete and re-install the game and try again.

Hopefully you will see me flying at warp speed (ok noob so crawling) along soon.

Apprechiate the help guys and goodnight

I don't know what Time Zone you are in, but for me, 8:30 ISH is shut down time for Auto Maintenance.
