Hey guys, lately I came up with an idea : download STO and check how it changed. ( i played a little open beta). Ok so here i am. I went on steam and started downloading STO 14 day trial - 8,2 GB. For summer I am here at my parents. They have 512 kb internet connection. ( I know its sad). It took me about 35 hours to download it. I was so happy when i woke up and saw it finished. Then i lanuched STO client and i was so angry.. there was a msg about patching : 2,5 GB left to patch. I was like ''Jesus help me" but ok i left it for another 6hours or a bit more and it patched. Launched the game and created character played a tutorial did two missions and wherever i want to go it says : STO DEMO buy STO to unlock blalbalb. Cmon so to the point : whats the point of 14 day trial if i finished whole so called "DEMO" in 1,5h ?? Just asking if there is a way to play some more game? seriously i got stunned when i got the DEMO screen whenever i wanted to go to any system in space ;x please help me :P i have 13 days left and? what will i do? :D

The so-called demo download is actually the full game client. That's why it's freaking massive - larger than it needs to be. The devs are apparently making a smaller demo client that's just for the demo. So it'll be smaller. But for the time being, this is what we have.

Anyway. The demo is just a demo. You're not supposed to get the full game experience from it. Just a taste. If you want to play the game...you're supposed to buy the game. That's the point.

Now. There are 5-day and 10-day 'buddy passes' for STO that give full unrestricted access to the game for free. This is what you want. So, good news, right?

Not really. The 5-day codes are from a promotion that's no longer running, so...yeah. Hard to get. The 10-day codes only come with the US Collector's Edition (specifically the American one - other countries didn't get that box). So the supply is limited as well, but they're still out there.

But you'll have to beg someone. Hope that a friend or stranger is kind enough to give you one, basically.

I'm not trying to be pessimistic. I'm just laying out the facts.

TL;DR VERSION: You need an old 5-day or 10-day buddy pass. Ask for one. Hope you get lucky.

I've never heard anything about a 14 day trial. All I know is that the demo only lets you play up until the S.S. Azura mission and that is all. Once you've completed that you can't do anything else... well maybe except start all over.

Correct. It's not a 14-day trial. The time is unlimited.

It's just that you can't actually play any missions beyond the S.S. Azura. So all you can do is...hang around Starbase and look pretty, I guess. And chat in local.
