I have 2 ideas i would like to see the art department to work on that i think they would love to do.
1. Hidden objects in the terrain
Work in objects into the texture of a map. They can be either star trek related or general objects but your goup could play a nifty game of finding all the objects from a posted list for the map.
2. Okudagrams
I would love to see this highly popular hidden image effect from star trek worked into the various screens or art panels on the starbases. How many can u find?
The idea is to replace random panels on a starbase with certain okudagrams. You would have a counter to tell you how many there are and you just scan the panels or other interaction. If you find one the counter goes down.
Another would be to have objects hidden in a ground map. You could have topiary shaped like famous characters or rocks that looked like tribble colonies. It would be a fun way to encourage people to explore noncombat maps. You could squad up with other players and fleetmates to see who can complete the list first.
