Any rubber banding advice please chaps?

Connection is super high speed, i have McAfee running - I rubberband like hell even when others do not.

Router and connection are both top notch and I don't get this with any other MMO.

Tried the eu proxy and without the proxy and it doesnt seem to make a difference.

Using Vista 64

Completed net test and have results above the range required.

WTF is all this rubberbanding about?

Cheers.

    need more detail information.

    post dxdaig reporrt
post the results from a tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com and a nettest
    Nettest:
    Go to http://files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe
Download this file and run it
A command prompt should appear running the test automatically

For good connections, column 1 and 3 have values around 500 kb/sec (outgoing/incoming), column 2 has values around 20 kb/sec (transfer rate). If the values in these columns is less than what is expected you may have filtering or blocked ports either on your personal network or from your ISP

also what type of connection you have wire wireless. nic card and driver version, model of router/modem who the ISP etc.

Exactly the same problem, both on STO and CO, even the Cryptic Studios website. At the same time, I've tried connecting to other games and I have no problem. So it is certainly something their side. Switching maps causing the SERVER NOT RESPONDING text to appear in the middle of my screen. I'm guessing something is causing an intermittent connection to the server since I rubberband like crazy and then it settles or I get disconnected. It has been doing this for the last 2 days. I've been checking my side and there are no issues with my system or its Internet registry settings. Perhaps it is a routing problem to the server but it happens so randomly it is difficult to pin down.

That is the trouble you get when the servers are 5000 miles away. So much to check in-between. I use Virgin Media's 50 Mbit cable service. I've tried restarting the cable modem and the local router, as well as calling the cable company to see if there are any faults. They can't find any.

    Sid.

    Trace route is below:
p.s. I can't get the nettest to complete. It keeps randomly hanging on different ports during the test. At the same time the hang occurs, I can't connect to the STO or CO forums or even the Cryptic Studios site. My broser simply sits there saying 'Waiting for forums.startrekonline.com" until the website finally decides to respond, sometimes minutes later.

the game required port 7000-7500 to be open unblocked and unfiltered. if the ports in nettest are timing out you are either losing connection(packet drops) or something is blocking the prots.
ISP traffic filtering is on thing that random block ports but there could be others like using wireless, signal droping, or modem can not handle the rapid connections the game uses etc. The nettest is not like the game server in that user load will not affect the result of the test.

everytme your zone a random port in the 7000-7500 range is selected and if there is a filtering of that port it will disconnect you if the packet aks are not recieved within a certain time.

Using the EU proxy seems to make things better, although naturally my ping is quite a bit higher when using it. I've been told by a few people in my fleet they are having the same problems connecting to Cryptic servers and this website.

I've tried shutting down my firewall (even though I highly doubted it was to blame) and I still encounter random packet loss. Since it has been happening for only 3 days now, it is logical to assume that since my PC has not been altered, or it's settings, that it is either my ISP or Cryptic's servers. Since my ISP told me my connection is stable, it then brings me to believe the servers are for some reason dropping packets randomly.

except virgin media does traffic managment (filter packets and downloads) and for them that is normal connections.
