Honestly all the moaning about the C-Store is getting old. It is not breaking the game in anyway or really lowering your imersion because they sell a few skins. I honestly don't mind it since the devs have stated it is how we get what we want in the game. If it means spending a few bucks to have a actually say in the game then heck yeah I will pay! I have played other MMOs and cryptic seems to listen/interact way more with it customers than others. I think the C-Store is a good thing! Thank you cryptic for keeping it stocked with interesting and non game changing stuff that I can enjoy as a novelty while also helping increase other game content. On a side note that everyone that moans about the lack of content shoud be not moaning about the C store. It will help us get the extra content. Sorry for the rant.
Notes: I own everything in the C store and I earned my Galaxy X thru referrals. No I am not MIFFED about the Galaxy X. It was smart on cryptics part to captialize on a cash cow that will help increase the games content. The ship is not really game changing. I played with it for 5 minutes and decided it kind of sucked in combat. It is just a novelty cool item for me now along with the Danube Runabout.
give cryptic a break? im sorry but if they couldnt do this game profesionaly then atari should have never hired them to do it,i wouldnt shed a tear if crypt got fired and was replaced by a compony that was bigger and didnt try to bleed there paying customers dry

Ok. I think Cryptic can handle this game. They are selling vanity items that don't break the game to help with development... sounds smart to me. I guess another big MMO *cough* WoW *cough* ran by a company named *cough* Blizzard *cough* can't run the game either without a little extra cash. What is this! Charging for toon transfers, race changes, and faction changes? Oh my god charging for pets in there pet store. Oh my so unfair they are selling the Celestrial steed on the pet store which is a game changer! So unfair. Every MMO takes in extra money to help costs... even the biggest boy on the block. Here it is... if you don't like it don't pay for it.
do you call enough charicter slots to play at least 1 of each carear and race a vanity item? i dont and thats one of the most expesive thing up there, i have 10 slots and i have to save for 3 months to get more..lol pain in the TRIBBLE and money i could be spending on bills : )

Im sorry but if u cant see the galaxy x sendt a green light to the marketing deparment about how much ppl will give for some special abilities and such and this is a slippery slope to go down then iam just happy for you . THey got the best cash cow on the market if they actually wanted to make a long term commitment to this game.
BUt as for them stating they are a small development house and need extra cash to keep game afloat then turn around telling us they working on a new game and allready have 2 other games out there and their publishing partner ATARI stating they gonna flood the mmo market with games i precive they gonna flood it with game skeletons and set up cashstores in the game asking for money to flesh them out ... this will be okey if they are free to play games but with a monthly fee this aint gonna fly with gamers out there at all..

Three toon slots is enough. You will get a fourth when you hit your vet reward. That is enough for all three types of toons. Yeah six would be ideal so you coul roll one of each profession on each side, but wait the klinks are optional. Since I know you didn't read it this is straight from the FAQ for WOW:
Does this mean you'll be introducing more services like this in the future? Will you be introducing the ability to buy epic weapons/etc. in the future, for example?
As with the pets, mounts, and other items players can obtain through Loot cards from the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, Pet Store pets are purely cosmetic and just for fun. Like other paid services we offer, such as Paid Name Changes, Race Changes, and Character Re-Customizations, the Pet Store service is entirely optional and intended to provide players another means to enjoy World of Warcraft in a way that isn't detrimental to the game and that doesn't detract from the gameplay experience for players who choose not to use the service.
Sounds a lot like what Cryptic is saying which is a much smaller player than Blizzard. Why not go flame their forums and tell them about how unfair/greedy btw. Oh wait... I have had dealings with Blizzard and they will probably throw the ban hammer at you quicker without responding to your post.

Honestly nickle and diming is the way things are going to be. Bashing them for making more games is off base. They have different teams of employs making those different games. It is smart to not put all your eggs in one basic.
I will reveal this, I am in the military and I actually run a couple "teams". They all have there different jobs. Sometimes one team is busy while the other is not. We get overstreched and sometimes one project will suffer while another team is working on a new project (what the general wants the general gets). Yes it would be smart for me to combine two teams together to finish the one project and put the new project on the back burner, but we all answer to someone. So my struggling team works longer hours while my other team fleshes out a new not even developed item. Honestly if I could charge extra money to get more resources I would, but in the military you can't do that. It is the nature of the beast. Even in the military.
Side note... in the military we even nickle and dime each other. Air Mobility Command charges other commands to move there equipment. You would think they would just move it, not the case... they want there money from the other commands budget to pay for there fuel (which I don't understand why it isn't in there budget like we budget the fuel for fighters!).
the smallest pre paid credit card you can buy is 50 bucks here,so when i get tired of deleting my ra's and bg's to make new toons i have to get 6 slots and a bunch of TRIBBLE,im also kinda ****ed they have all this time to make
ship skins and uniforms for c store while my klingon is stuck with ships with no alt skins or 1 extra at bg
shouldnt they try to make the standard content good and plentifull b4 trying to sell us stuff that really should be included with subscription anyway?

another problem with mmo games the pricing of monthly fee 15 dollars have been stuck since 2006 when wow launched and saleries for developers has gone up by 10 folds so a game to have a developer lets say
Musicians or composers in the video game design industry will generally have a starting salary of $55000 that means to make a turn around and profit that dev have to have 305.5 15 dollars a month players subscribed to him . When you look at this way you can clearly see 15 dollars a month is way to cheap in my book wich is why i never ***** about monthly fees in fact i suggest they should raise it to make turn over and game development while keeping entertainment cheap for us player . RIght now 15 dollars a month is like 50 cents a day can you find anything thing else out there that is 50cents a day for a whole day of entertainment ?
But lol this has to be said the cstore is leading to free to play structure wich is something i dont like myself cause free to play communites are usually full of cheaters exploiters scammers etc...

Sorry for double post. Can't seem to delete my others. I think you are spot on. They need some way to make money. Nothing in this world is free.
yes but this game isnt finished yet, cryptic even admits that, to expect us to pay for new content b4 the klingons have the same ammount of missions and ships as feds and b4 we have a fully finished romulan faction with missions and ships would be like them selling us the same thing twice
thats my whole problem with cryptic and how theyve handled this game, prioraty one should be finish this game, even if you take a loss , get it finished then make the extras and make your profit
Sounds a lot like an expansion pack... I have paid for two with other MMOs *cough* WoW *cough*. Seems like nothing new to me.
In fact they have a large store of stuff for the game including a $25 mount.
And they did it before Cryptic.

heres the thing abbout wow,you can make as many toons as you like, each faction has way more then 3 options for class, there are way more then what do we get?5 or 6 wep types, you can play for months and still have missions to do and levels to gain, with what this game offers for standard content, it should be free to play ,i payed 65 buks for the game and over 20 bucks a month for 6 months worth of time cards, thats alot of money, why is it worthless to cryptic?

OK, let me apologize right now, because I'm one of those people who wants more from this game but doesn't see it coming in the first year, BUT the company is doing something, if only the first level of "what the people ask for" as they brought out the second big add on, now coming out this month. It takes time to make something good, and the fact that I can do planetary missions for the first time on this game gets them a small thumbs up from me. Of course things can be better and will be, in a year or two. Will I stay the whole time and do shoot-em -up missions daily, no. But I will check back from month to month to see what they added, until I see something I like.
That's being an adult, seeing what can and cant be done and waiting for it, or going somewhere else. Having a dozen threads like this screaming about how you didn't get what you wanted, or how YOUR money is somehow more important then theirs, is just silly. It shows where the children are so please, either be happy it's out and wait for better content, or walk outside and scream into the air, the company is busy making small changes they hope will add up later on, and please some people, but they know they cant please everyone right now,it's just the way things are.

They've BEEN saying since around Mach that theyre going to be making the C-Store a priority (naturally) and all the qq about it is just funny imo
and all those "they do it in WoW" people are just funny. I havent played wow since this came out, but since when does WoW charge REAL MONEY for respecs? I remember that costing GOLD not DOLLARS. Also, since when can you buy new mounts with it? I remember WoW's account services, server xfer, rename, full character rebuild. NOT new clothes (also only in game) NOT new mount (also ONLY in game) NOT respect (also ONLY in game). Im all for the C-Store being used to help fund the new stuff coming out, but making referrences to "WoW doing it" is just wrong being that they dont.
Yeah, Im looking at it right now...
WoW remote - usae the AH on the web (neat lol)
Chatacter re-Customization (re-do your guy)
Paid Character Transfer (change servers)
Paid Name Change
Character Faction Change
Race Change
The only item that really ****es me off on the c-store is the extra character slots. You get, what, a lousy 3 to start with? Not even enough to play one tac, sci, and eng if you want to play a klink... let alone any of the races 'they are working on'.
Hell, what's going to happen when the Rommies get here? Let me guess, extra character slots will be on sale in the c-store for 10% off? Here's an idea (and the marketing monkeys will choke on their morning coffee if they read it, bonus). Give everyone a FREE (you may have to explain this concept to marketing) slot. You are working on content for Klingons, I would imagine a lot of people who gave up playing klinks don't have a slot for one now.
(And yes, I did say Marketing Monkey. I picture these a lot like the flying monkeys from The Wizard of Oz, except with suits and fedoras. )
what i hope they do about romulans is sell it as an expansion a full fledged expansion with its own box and all and with that they can include more char slots with the new key they assign to the expansion.
this will allso prevent it from beeing like the klingons an empty shell thats just there at this point to be pvp content and locked out of most of the game itself...

aside from DDO - who appears to be one of the F2P market leading products in terms of net revenue... (I haven't seen any of the above you mentioned in DDO).

That's not entirely how a public-traded company like Atari distributes capital projects... a new game means they'll receive more investment to go toward a new project. It's not the devs are locked in a flat, communal "pot" - each project generally has its own assets (and when they do overlap, it's for the greater good).
It's not like Cryptic has $100 dollars to diver amongst 3 games. It's more like for each game they commit to they receive more capital and provide their own teams.
Honestly, the more projects on deck the more floater/support staff they can have (i.e. guys who work on UGC, new engine features like DX10 or 11 and other cross-game technology for Cryptic).

no what i meant atari put forth an incentive to cryptic a reward for making 3 games they not forcing them to make anything or grab that reward , all they want cryptic to do is make them money but putting out 3 skeletons and then asking players to bear with them and pay them more cash on the side to help put flesh on the skeletons is not a good way to sell games. Cryptic still has a budget on all the games they make and they are gonna have to make money or they gonna get canceled thats how it is with anything for sale .

Do you have links to back that up? Or are we meant to take you for your word at that?
It's CBS that cause trouble, becuase of licensing.
CBS Causes trouble? They OWN Star Trek. They have every right to ensure that their property is being represented in a manner that is acceptable to them. So they have every right to delay something for revision or outright deny it.
So many of us tend to forget (or choose to ignore) the fact that STO is a business venture, involving myltiple business entities. There's a lot of corporate red tape involved in making what to us would seem like simple decisions. But business decisions involve money. And things are never easy on the business end where money is concerned.
Oh... here's a little tidbit for you all:
In case you guys don't remember, there was once an exclusive agreement between paramount and the Microsoft Network to host the Star Trek online fan club/official site. But the dark side of exclusivism in this case was that members HAD to be a paying member of the Microsoft Network. They HAD to be using Microsoft Internet Explorer. And they HAD to be using Windows 95. Oh, and if you wanted to run a Star Trek fan site, you had to live in fear of getting a cease and desist order.
Well... Thank God that Paramount realized how bad this arrangement was and severed ties with MS. That was a business nightmare, if you ask me...

They've BEEN saying since around Mach that theyre going to be making the C-Store a priority (naturally) and all the qq about it is just funny imo
read for yerself

and all those "they do it in WoW" people are just funny.
Race Change
Hell, what's going to happen when the Rommies get here? Let me guess, extra character slots will be on sale in the c-store for 10% off? Here's an idea (and the marketing monkeys will choke on their morning coffee if they read it, bonus). Give everyone a FREE (you may have to explain this concept to marketing) slot. You are working on content for Klingons, I would imagine a lot of people who gave up playing klinks don't have a slot for one now.
(And yes, I did say Marketing Monkey. I picture these a lot like the flying monkeys from The Wizard of Oz, except with suits and fedoras.
this will allso prevent it from beeing like the klingons an empty shell thats just there at this point to be pvp content and locked out of most of the game itself...
isnt it 3 then when you get the right lvl you unlock klingons and a 4th slot?
aside from DDO - who appears to be one of the F2P market leading products in terms of net revenue...
Since they put the Celestial Steed in their store for $25 not to mention several vanity pets you can buy there too for various real $ prices.
Do you have links to back that up? Or are we meant to take you for your word at that?
Is there a second account services page that Im not seeing? I JUST logged into my WoW account and didnt see that.
ONE mount =/= all the ships we have here does it? Cause that would be one hell of a mount.
one mount and 4 pets does not make the C-Store the same as WoW's store lol
