ty so mutch for doing this,i feel cryptic has done a horable job with this game, especialy content wise and am so glad to have the oportunity to give my feed back to someone who is not employed by them
sorry i dont think i will fill out this form is cryptic cant understand what they are dooing wrong without having us to fill out a form maybe the should start developing something else
I second that. There are too many students assigned to STO or at least there was not sure about the situation now. Total lack of common sense and experiance. It is a good game but should have been even better. We are however seeing it come along a bit, slowly however.
We're still going to hit some walls very soon when PvP runs dry, people are finally fed up sitting around trying to get a team together for raids instead of an actual system like PvP uses and all the new players get an ever worse impression of the game than we did in day one because they feel totally alone...in an MMO!!!
Research from this game will not be worth much in my opinion, it is not definitive enough. What type of game is it because 75% of the time I'm alone in it so can it be an MMO?
Lets call it an MMO 50% MSO 50%, a bit long winded but you might want to consider what type of audience your research applys to and the conditions they play under in STO compared to what they play in the perfect sense of an "MMO"
I am still conducting my research, so I haven't published any results. I will publish when the research is concluded, and I will provide access to the results in published forms (wherever that may be) and here on this forum.
I am interested in MMORPGS, virtual worlds, and games in the virtual and aspects of the interactions that take place there. CBS and Cryptic were kind enough to allow me to undertake this research project, for which I am grateful.
Oh, plus I love Star Trek!
Btw, thanks to everyone who has taken part thus far, please keep those answers coming!
yeah, i know lots of doctors that write on game message boards and have sentences like "i stand by my research"
lol
as to " each to his own" - this is stellar wisdom- it means i guess i have permission to say whatever i like in spite of strangers on a message board claiming to be something? thanks "professor"
lol
people sure be gullible, but since most are young it is understandable

Sounds like someone's a bit aggrivated because they've realized they won't even see the INSIDE of a University for quite some time.
And Dr. Otto:
I would take the survey for the sake of consensus and providing relevant info - But Sadly, i have about a year to go until i'm 18.

Oh, attacko, how your posts bring endless laughter to us all. Seriously, out of everyone who posts on this forum, you're the most memorable.

Good luck with the research though!
Hello,
Thanks for taking the time to consider it, and thank you as well for being honest about your age and not participating. But hey, just think, you now have a great birthday present to look forward to on your 18th birthday, you can do the survey!
LOL to those who think this is fake or not who he says he is, maybe you should actually read the original post and click the links. You will then realize that you are a moron for posting such things. But hey i do love to see people making idiots out of themselves.

Umm, you did read the part where he stated he's NOT employed by either CBS or Cryptic studios, right?
Isn't their a Dr. Otto now in game where his research started making everyone on your ship sick with possible death?!?!?! (Season2) He is an alcoholic also, always standing at that bar trying to drink with ya!
Maybe its the shard posting on the forums getting ready to take over the world!

Hey,
Research is tough, sometimes you need a tasty beverage after a long session of evaluating data.
As to the folks who are not doing so for whatever reasons, regardless of who he is working for this is a good thing. What if it was cryptic doing this and not some normal joe? Someone obviously wants to see what you all think. I would think you all would be happy to give the doctor your oppinions, I mean, you give them so freely enough on the forums...but the forums are not the end all be all of communication.
I just completed the survey, really great questions this time, looking forward to the results. Just a thought about the underage person that wanted to do the survey, maybe you could look into doing a comparison survey just for the younger folks. I am sure they have different ideas about the online community than us older folks. Im sure research information could be gathered without violating any Laws.

Just my two cents
Hello,
Good Point! I'd actually love to get the input of those under age 18, however, when one conducts research like this, in my case through my university, they have to get permission of the research board that overseas the activity to protect the participants, and to study underage populations means I would need the consent of their guardian, which would be very difficult to obtain in an online environment, as it can be sometimes difficult in the physical world to obtain such permissions. Makes me think of that scene between Q and Captain Picard...(must you always be so ethical?)
Q: You've never actually been to the ruins of Tagus III, have you?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: No. They were sealed off more than a century ago.
Q: Well, that explains it, then. How can you write about something that you've never seen? I know! Why don't I take you there?
[he changes into an explorer outfit]
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: Out of the question. That would mean breaking Taguan law.
Q: Must you always be so ethical? I suppose we could travel back in time. You could see what Tagus was like two billion years ago. They really knew how to party back in those days. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0708759/quotes
Have a great day!
Dr. Otto
P.S. Thanks to you all for your time and great responses...live long and prosper!
Maybe not the best time for the survey... I've bee frustrated with the bugs lately. I want explore missions that work, I want to team up for explore missions and I want the diplomacy missions fixed. Just too many bugs to enjoy the game and I'm usually easy to please.

Did that make sense
Thanks Otto

Luck and fun to all!!!
Dr. Otto
really?
i am professor plum and i am doing a poll about "clue"
i don't believe you, the premise makes no sense, and the preface of "i am an astronaut" reads fake
Hmmm, I'm not sure how to respond to this, other than to say that to each his or her own, and I stand by my research and my comments.
Have a nice day,
Dr Otto

Fact - I finished the survey.

Hehe, j/k
Have a great day, and luck and fun in STO,
Dr. Otto
And... queue the rush of news personnel from the STO media outlets!
this past week had soiled my opinion of STO even more.....
