No interiors for 2.0?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
According to the interview with Dan on hailing frequency, he is hesitant to release the interiors for 2.0 and wait till UGC come out. Is that why the delay on tribble? Please tell me this wrong and I misheard it!

He didn't say that all. He was talking about Fleet Starbases when he mentioned it.

Ship interiors are in Season 2 - we've already seen some of them.

However, he did say they wanted to pursue "create-your-own" interiors.

I have seen seen some of them in missions on tribble and it would be interesting to see UGC interiors

Here's the deal with Ship Interiors...

The interiors are in the process of hooking them all up to your bridges... but because there are so many different bridges, the time to do this is taking longer than originally expected. I'm skeptical that they will all be hooked up by the time Season 2 launches.

So first priority is getting your ready rooms with the trophy case hooked up first. Once those are all done, we'll get that into the Season 2 build.

Then we'll see how far we get on hooking up the Turbolifts that go to your interiors. If we get it done in time, it will go out with Season 2.0, otherwise it will go out to TRIBBLE as soon as we get it done, and then into release sometime shortly after Season 2.0.

Add to the fact we may release some more bridges next week and it makes me raise my fist and yell... "BRIDGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

    BRIDGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Might one of these be the new Sovereign bridge seen in the first of the new Klingon episodes? and maybe a proper ST: Generations Galaxy bridge...

however the delay is rather dissapointing. However, I wont buy any More C-store bridges until you guys get ones with proper LCARS consoles and less blue lighting...basically bridges that dont look like cold grey stadiums.

That is not good news. Heres an idea: how about you hold off on releasing new bridges until you get all of the current ones working with interiors so that the interiors are not delayed any longer than necessary?

Gotta admit, I'm very disappointed to hear that the biggest feature for Season 2, at least on this side of things, is looking at a delay.

Why? That would mean they'd be delaying charging extra cash for new C Store bridges, hindering their income.

Thank you for responding to this topic Dstahl!

I know you mean well but as it stands I am loosing my faith in STO.

The reason I am still around was that we were told that ship interiors were coming with Season 2.0.

It is very important from a RP perspective as well as many others. I will see what Season 2.0 will give us at launch.

Are any of the new bridges by any chance a true sovereign-class bridge?

Personally i'm much more interested in the new ships than the actual interiors. I'm really looking forward to playing around with the Galaxy /w saucer separation.

The interior is neat, but i'd prefer to have it done right than see all the "My interiors aren't working" threads if they try and rush it.

I'm going to be honest with you... that kind of bummed out my day ... :( that was the biggest thing I was looking forward in 2.0. but I understand that stuff like this happens so we will all have to live with it until you finish. ( but please hurry )

I'm with the 'get it done right, even if it takes extra time' camp.

So, that said: Get it done right, even if it takes extra time. The impatient people can just cope.

If we get the Sovereign Bridge I'll be very happy! I promise if you put that bridge into the game I'll not say a bad word about cryptic for a very long time :D

I really want a Sov bridge for my Sov, its been disappointing to have gotten to Admiral and a Sov and not having the proper bridge.

    I concur with Grand.Nagus.

I would prefer the interiors attached to what is currently available. Even if what we see initially are not the entire layout. Some rooms are better than no rooms at all. IMO, if integrating new Bridges could slow the process, I prefer they be offered after Season 2.

Define "right". No bugs? If that were the case, then the entire game would still be in beta. So what is your definition of "right"?

I hear ya, and completely understand that not all players want the same things, but Season 2 was touted mostly for bringing us ship interiors - arguably the most-asked-for feature this far - and we were being given that until today when the STO-Radio interview was released.

So it's kind of like a car salesman telling you one thing to get you in the car, then just before you're about to sign the papers (or maybe it's after), he tells you it only comes with three wheels on it.

Zinc said to us once that artists making "fluff" for the store aren't holding up game development.

Ahh, those were the days... :)

I really hope dstahl is also planning for future functional bridges, After Interiors I think on the whole Fans want working Bridges ( and Captains chairs!). IE View screens that handle communications, consoles with mini games.

Of course Im not suggesting this for Season 2, I know Interiors are alot of work, and I want a Sov bridge, but im hopeful for Season 3 we'll get working Bridges.

I honestly think between interiors and functional bridges that'll really get alot of people playing STO.

He did say in the interview that is something they will be looking at. To me that makes the bigger difference. If I can have a Bridge, and Ready Room, or Main Engineering that actually works, it's more of a "I have to have it" thing. Right now sure its cool to look at and all, but what can I do with it....

    Do interiors do anything?

Are they like the useless bridges? I hear a few missions take place in them however... a few missions, is that it?

I have a feeling that even if they did not do the BRIDGES!!!!!! that the intiriors still will not be in at the beginning of 2.0 no matter what. So, they opt to provide something in the interim instead. A week is a week is a week.

Awesome!!! More bridges, AND interiors are coming. I'd rather take the positive side in all of this, as it'll be great immersion when they all arrive.

    Thanks Devs!

Here's the thing... bridges get put up on the C-Store, requiring you to spend more money for something technically already in the game (though far less pretty XD). Interiors are supposed to be coming to us in-game - not at a cost - and so to supplant progress on big Season 2 features with C-Store fluff is kind of... disappointing.

The thing is just "when" do we get that.

If they keep pushing it farther into the future everytime it is supposed to be released than they will alienate the playerbase. Which is never good for an MMORPG.
