Lets hope the introduction of true variety and cloak to the federation maximum level vessel selections will give a wider range of tactical maneuvers than currently seen in pvp combat. Attack wings, true hit and run strikes, more complex battle tactics, and perhaps an added complexity and thus more fun will arise from this change.

No longer I predict will players simply mass up and surrender initiative. Hopefully players will realize the value of this addition to the game, seeing that the federation has but a few ships with inferior technology. Let this herald an age of renewed interest in pvp. Be wary the nerf cryers!

That is somewhat true. We will absolutely see the majority of Feds in PvP using the Defiant-Refit and using Klingon ambush tactics.

But there is the possibility of the Fedball involving to the Invisible Fedball. Because aside from the Klingon carriers, the other Klingon ships will be cloaked. But the Defiants won't be able to go hunting, so they will stick close to the Cruisers, which will be nothing but bait. So when the Klingons come blasting in, the Defiants uncloak and blast the Klingons in return.

The Klingons aren't going to be the same after Season 2.

It will be a bait and wait game. If I am running in a pack of 3 bop/raptors with a cruiser... why not have the cruiser attack the fed cruiser... and wait out the Siskos. Those feds aren't going to wait for ever.

I think it may lead to some intresting games.
A few new tactics, on both sides. Nothing we shouldn't be able to adjust too. It does seem strange that cryptic is going to load boff skills so heavy for the feds. I will reserve judgement on that though till I play with and against the new fed ships. Its really hard to tell how well they will be balanced at this point.

Of course now that I think about it a cloaked fed ball would be very susceptible to a round of bop CPB Spam.

2 or 3 bops opening up on a 2 cruiser ball each firing off a CPB round would be a bad day for any cloaked Galx / Sisko ships in the ball.

Point is there are cloak counters now both sides will pack em.

I Hate the backstabby part of PvP so I'll be waiting out for the best shot at those who would backstab ships already engaged.

Really good Fed PvP teams haven't been using the traditional "tight" Fedballs since 1.2's release. With the healing ranges on powers all maximized to 10km, advent of C:SV spam, and the infamous Photonic Shockwave "kamikaze" runs into the middle of the group by cloaked BoP's, an experience Fed fleet left the mini-ball a while ago and opts for a far more extended grouping. Sorry you keep running into crappy PUGs.... ;)

You are under the impression that the Klingons will just all decloak at the same time, when they see a nice big juicy cruiser just strolling along the cosmos, waiting to get smoked by a horde of Klingon BoPs.

New weapons bring new tactics, the Klingons will adapt and overcome and become better at the attack. With the nerfing of Rapid Fire they wont have to worry as much about the escorts decloaking and tearing them up. They can take out the cruisers and still have enough strength to deal with the escorts.

Feds have to play heads up ball, there will be a learning curve using the cloaking device during battle, there is a small down time that you will be open for an attack when cloaking and decloaking.

If you havn't used a cloaking device yet, build a Klingon Toon and practice against the Feds, before 2.0 comes out.

the new defiant has no battle cloak that makes hit and run attacks nearly impossible.

Use it to position yourself optimally before attacking.

Don't depend on it like the Klingons do the crutch Battlecloak.

I have a feeling the defiant is going to be more cannon fodder than cannon, especially with the raptor esq. loadout. cloak and an ensign tac station whoopdie freakin do, I'd rather have had no cloak and universal BO slots. Makes the intrepid look better and better.

besides I think cloaking feds would strengthen the ball in order to return fire on those going after your bait. this might open up the possibility of entirely cloaked fed teams, but the cloaked fed ships are such jokes that a normal fed team, if they had their stuff together, would probably mop the floor with the cloaked vessels.
