Um, I have only changed two things.
First, I let the prepatch for Tribble download since I want to help test that content.
Second, I noticed (having logged onto tribble and seeing default graphics), that my graphical settings were lowered. This is because the first day (1 month ago today

), I had heating problems and I kept crashing.. I also wanted to run at 60 FPS. My cooling system is upgraded, and I realized I could run 45-50 with much nicer looking settings.. So not knowing what to change, I just set it to "recommended".
I only just realized, so I don't know when it happened, but my footstep sounds are no longer there. This sucks! I love footstep sounds!
Has this happened elsewhere? Appreciate any help.

Can you post your dxdiag? Are you using the -ignore64x in the launcher command line?
How to create a dxdiag report:
1. From the Windows key click *Start* menu, then click *Run*.
2. In the *Open* box, type: dxdiag (hit enter)
3. If this is your first time running dxdiag, click *Yes* to launch the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
4. Click on the Sound 1 tab.
5. Look at the first line under the Device section.
Attach this to a post in this thread.
Attach just the sound part, or the whole thing?
Here's the part you mentioned.
Device
Name: Headset Earphone (Logitech USB Headset)
Decice ID: USB\VID_046DPID_0A02REV_1013MI_00
Manufacturer ID: 65535
Product ID: 65535
Type: WDM
Default Device: Yes
Yeah attach the whole thing, this way if there are any errors I can see them.
Unfortunately I do not see anything wrong. File a bug ticket and our QA team can look into it.
I turned Anisotropic filtering off and they returned.
Unfortunately it's something I won't ever hear since I value my eardrums more than the sound of phaser fire at the level I would have to bump fx volume up to to hear the steps.
If I set my settings to Recommended, they work and/or turn back on.
If I enable advanced settings and go down to Visual FX Quality (right below Postprocessing On/Off) and set them to High, footsteps work. If I set them to Low or Medium, Footsteps mute.
Odd that turning VISUAL fx to high enables sound effects.
