Alright, currently when we rank up to Commander or Captain, we gain access to more powerful ships with more weapons slots. On the surface this makes perfect sense and may even be more realistic. However, as the point of the game is pure enjoyment, i propose a new system.
When one ranks up, while also unlocking new ships, make rank progression unlock slots. What I mean is this:
I'm commanding a Constitution Class and i really love that ship. Say i do not want to have a Cheyenne or Stargazer or even a Sovereign class. With each rank allow me to unlock the weapons slots and engineering/science/tactical slots associated with that Tier of ships. If i am an admiral and i prefer to cruise the galaxy in my Constitution class, this now gives me the option of having 4 weapon slots forward and 4 weapon slots aft on my Constitution Class when i hit admiral. It would really open the game up and allow players to enjoy the ships they want to without penalty.
Do a search, refits have been suggested hundreds of times already, the majority of the community agrees with this. Cryptic is looking into it, but nothing is promised or even being developed yet (as far as I know).
