Buggy Graphics, flickering

Hello, I've just got the demo of this game, to see if i'll buy the full copy.
So far, i'm rather unimpressed.

I'm experince rather bad graphic issues.
The screen keeps on flickering dark/light as though a global shadow has been applied.
Also, another image of what i'm seeing, seems to be rendered, but offset from where it should be. So, flickering shadows, and ghost images.
No, nothing in game is doing that. I've turned off dynamic lighitng and post processing as suggest in a few other threads, but no, not fixed it. Made it slightly better, but still, the textures are tearing like a broken sail in the wind.

PC specs
Quad core athlon, easy fast enough
8gb ram
2x ATI 4850HD 1 GB cards.
ample HD space/transfer rates.

If your going to post, "zomg turn down specs", sorry, try again, I can run crysis on full.

Edit:

Vsync on or off, no effect
Shadows on or off, no effect
AA, changing on/off/level no effect.
# of lights, no effect.
Light quality, no effect.
Bloom, No effect.

ANY detail options, no effect.

Edit 2:

Effects:
Found it to be
"Screen-Space ambient occulusion"

Why is this causing redicilious false images to be shown? If this is the current state of the game, it looks like this is half finished.

On a side note, why the hell is mouse acceleration on by default.

Edit 3!:
This still happens in space, found no way to stop it.

it is a crossfire bug, i suffer with it too when i run both of my 4870's the only way to fix it i have found is to disable CCC AI in the CCC, while you may lose the extra performance of both gpu's you will still have enough power to max out ST:O.

all we can do is wait for ATi to fix it as it is a problem with their drivers.

    No, sorry, that's absolute TRIBBLE.

If it was a cross fire bug, then every other game that made use of crossfire would suffer from the same issues.

    What your saying points to:
    • It's a bug with crossfire, which ALL OTHER developers seem to be aware of, and thus do not use that crossfire functionality causes the glitch. For some reason ST:O Devs decided to use this functionality, and thus, glitch.
    • It is not a bug with cross fire, else it would happen with every other game. Ergo ST:O has faults

Blaming ATI when the glitch is present in NO other game, is somewhat pointless. You're trying to blame ATI for something which doesn't seem to be their fault. No other game has this problem on my pc, so why should STO be unique?

It's not a bug with crossfire. Next answer please.

The bug comes into play on games that are designed to run on Nvidia cards rather than ATI ones. Star Trek Online is built to run off of Nvidia products, and (I may be wrong) I believe Crysis is designed for ATI.

You're not the only person to have issues with an ATI product and this game, I have a 4570 (512) that should easily handle this game, but it suffers on the highest settings (and yes I have plenty of power in the system).

just to let you know ok, what i said is not complete TRIBBLE, as of the 10.5 CCC drivers the flickering shadows started, with the 10.4 CCC drivers there is no problems, also this same issue is seen on another game called alpha protocol which also has another crossfire bug which is seen in cutscenes.

next time you decide to try and tell someone they don't know what they are talking about maybe you should actually do some research on your problem.

also if it was not a crossfire bug, then the flickering shadows would also show up for people with only one GPU, needless to say the bug is not present with only one GPU.

i'm sorry but it is you who does not know what they are talking about this time, maybe you should try disabling CCC AI and see for yourself, and if you are still not satisfied that it is a driver issue then maybe you should remove one of your GPU's and max all the setting in ST:O, you will see that with both of the aforementioned solutions the flickering shadows are gone.

i know for a fact this bug is caused by crossfire with CCC AI enabled as not only did i do my research i also tested various graphics settings in game and also by forcing them in the drivers, and again as i mentioned this bug only shows up when you have 2 GPU's crossfired with CCC AI enabled.

Driver bugs usually only affect one or 2 games, just because it does not affect every game you own does not automatically mean that the fault is with the game.

Sivar you are also correct, this game does have issues with ATI GPU's, specifically with regards to Dynamic Lighting while having the max lights and max shadows sliders set to their highest setting and causing the game to lock up, i am not saying this game is perfect but the OP really should try and listen to other peoples suggestions and solutions before saying they are full of TRIBBLE.

I just wanted to say that I have this flickering issue too. I have only ONE GPU, Nvidia Geforce GTS 250. The flickering happens in what seems random systems and sectors. It doesn't happen all the time, yet enough that it gets annoying at time. So yes, This does happen on single GPU setup and not just with ATI GPU's

I have an nvidia geforce 9500 GT, and it flickers like crazy. I'm sure everyone goes through that whole deal. I'm still trying to figure out why you guys are helping that guy anyway, he seems like a real jackass.
