Ground pvp has died off atleast when I am online. I love the ground combat in this game and I will say that it needs something to give people incentive to play the ground combat.
Current conditions just are not enough to make people want to que up for it and that leaves me and a very few others lost in the que for hours and sometimes never get in the ground combat for days.
This is a bummer for me for I love the ground game! I would love to see more ground pvp dailies put in and less of the capture and holds wich usually dominate the pvp daily.
Hate to say this. If i wasn't OCD about making all the bold threads, not bold (i.e. read). I wouldn't of even clicked on this post. Ground PVP is so bad, I don't even like looking at forum threads about it.

That is just your take on it and does not represent everyones view on ground pvp. Ground pvp is very fun! I love it but there isn't enough to it to make people actually que up for it above ship combat.
They need to reduce the amount of kills needs to win and make other areans. And increase the rewards for it so people will actually play it.

Hold/knockback immunities should definitely be put in. It sucks getting held-knockbacked-held again-KB again and then wake up dead. It doesn't always happen, but it shouldn't ever happen.
Focus fire isn't fun either (the act not the tac skill), and there is no ground RSP to counter it.
I generally enjoy ground PVP when that stuff doesn't happen.
Forcing people to do space or ground for their daily is not the answer. Choice is a good thing.
I was just making a sudgestion to help to increase participation. It may not have been a good 1 though. Just trying to make aware that there ia a great need to improve it so people will participate.
Try hanging out in Otha, sometimes you can catch people in there to kill in 1v1 situations. Otherwise you're right, it's a very long wait to get into a match, and even if it starts, the match will be uneven (5v1).

Yes the match mechanic is also broken and need to be addressed.
Fix the queues so that you dont have mismatched teams
Once Mismatching is fixed, lock it so new people can't join and mismatch after the match has started
Lower Exploits Rates in PvP, just a little (without affecting PvE).
Safe Respawn locations (nobody likes spawn campers or spawning in the middle of an hostile group).
Fix the bug where people from your side are put on the other side.
No longer have the mini-map show hostile locations, so the unexpected could occur, like an ambush.
Perhaps a limit on spawns, so you don't see Tacticals having 4 or more Security Escorts or Engineers spamming the place with gizmos.
Make maps possible where you could have 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3, instead of waiting for a full queue for the match to begin (which is hard lately since there are so few people in the queues anymore).
Last, but not least:
Prevent people exploiting the alien creator and making smurfs (Characters that are 1 foot tall). These exploit the code, which increases their survival a great deal.
I only do ground PvP which means I dont do much PvP at all the queues are dead, I never see any open maps and when I get in half the people who where queing have given up and its 2 Klingons verse 5 feds and after a few minutes I just quit.
Groud PvP needs a hell of a lot of work. Unfortunatly the one thing I would really like to see are War Zones but they would be a waste of time because there are insufficent Klingon Players and instead of 5 vs 2 it would be 50 vs 2. But personaly I will only be staying to check out seaon 2 if its not great for Klingons I will be leaving.

I agree with this. It takes away from the feeling of Star Trek when you come-up against a character like this...
I admit that I don't do much ground pvp as it isn't all that fun for me. However, I have tried every map a few times just to get a feel for them, all that is except Shantytown. Shantytown never seems to start when I am logged in, whether during the day or at night. So, is it any good?

I'm suing all of you. These ridiculous posts caused me to laugh so hard, I puked up my spleen. Expect a letter from my attorney discussing reparations on your end.
The constant holds, stuns, effed up qeue system and pre-mades with voice comms have done in ground combat pvp. I don't know if it's ever going to recover. Sad really.
When KDF Orions can wear tiaras and bikinis, ground PVP participation will surge. Just wait...
I like your optimism, but I doubt it.
Ground PvP can be a lot of fun, but there is a huge learning curve and quite frankly - the scenarios suck. 5v5 in a closed space just doesn't cut it. Otha is great, but limited based on participation. Ground PvP would be more fun with more people, but again - it gets back to several issues. Believe it or not, I think people would like ground PvP more if they had a "RSP" like skill for survival/escape when things go wrong.
I had to spec out of ground at BG because the community was so small and getting smaller at the time, but I do think the system can be a lot of fun - when people know what to do. At lower tiers, it is a lot of 1 shot stuff. I know because I do it to others a lot these days on my LCDR toon.
I still think the removal of or making Riflebutt/Palmstrike a Tac martial arts skill would keep people interest MUCH longer in ground. Buttspam for any person new is insta-death in most cases, and makes Ground look TERRIBLY broken (since there is no counter for it).
Problem is, at higher levels that CC is needed at times to kill healers...so that possible creates a further imbalance
I also think as mentioned before, that the queues need a "grouped" option so that pugs and pre-mades do not mix. That kills a LOT of people interest in ground FAST when they try it out the first few times and run into pre-mades, I think.
Lastly I think Ground PvP is at the VERY BOTTOM of the devs list to deal with, as the PvP community is small, and there are a LOT less Marines than Sailors. The majority of subscriptions pay for PvE and RP, and frankly for the most part, these people would love PvP'ers to disappear (we are SUCH a classy bunch us PvP'ers, I do not understand why, heh).
Dev time will go to where the money is, which is PvE, non-PvP play (and if it does go to PvP, it will go to the Sailors first because they have a MUCH larger whining presence....err...think they are better...err...scoff at ground...err..POPULATION on the forums).
Having said that, ground pvp actually takes pvp skills. It is much faster pace than space and truly requires a group effort.
If this game didn't have ground pvp, I and most of CHC would be playing another game. People need to cry less when they lose in ground pvp and learn from each loss and get better.

Arena - Ghost Ship, Assimilated Cruiser, Deserted Facility
Capture & Hold/Assault - Shanty Town
War Zone - Otha
