So Im on my day off decide to try a new game.....bought the store version at Best Buy....

I wont even go into all the frustrations of even getting to the point where I can post here but Im very close to tossing the box in the garbage and going off to buy another game.

After buying the boxed version I have finally gotten the game to start downloading

Major frustration #1 Why should I have to give you my credit card information in order to play my first 30days of free time that came with the box - Ive already bought it you should not need any subscrition info until Im done trying out my first 30 days

Major frustration #2 I am now waiting while the game downloads.....one hour = 1%????!!! Im on the highest bandwidth cable connection available in Canada using a brand new high end computer and thats the best I can get for download speed from your servers??? SO I can play my new game sometime a week from now?

Is there anyway to improve the download rate....

Help me out here is this really going to take days and days before I can play because if so honestly I want a refund this is TRIBBLE.

A subscription is required to play (period. see the back of the box) you are not charged for 30 days on the subscription (thus free 30 day) is you use a credit card or paypal
if you use a game time card then the 30 days are added to the time of the card (again 30 days not paid for)

patches are done on port 7255. if that port is blocked or filtered the patching will be slow.
The game need ports 7000- 7500 open and unfiltered.
You can try using the patch through porxy option in the launcher option . It may help down load faster.

Can you post the results of the following test.

    Run a trace route:

    * Click on Start
    * Click on Run, or if using Windows Vista just skip to the next step
    * Type cmd into the dialog box and press Enter.
    * In the window that opens type "tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com"
    * Check the speed listed on the return

If you see any hops over 180ms, this could be the cause of the rubber banding.

How to acquire, run and read the Nettest tool:

    Go to http://files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe
Download the application and run it (Windows 7 and Vista users make sure to right click the icon and run as admin if you are having issues with the tool running.)

The Nettest tool checks that the ports required for patching and playing Star Trek Online are not blocked or filtered. Good values returned from the Nettest tool look like:

Column 1 and 3 have values around 500 kb/sec (outgoing/incoming), column 2 has values around 20 kb/sec (transfer rate). If the values in these columns is less than what is expected you may have filtering or blocked ports either on your personal network or from your ISP.
