Shield heals should count on /pvpreport

Basically what i said in the title.

Is there no way it could be changed/added coding wise so that 'shield heals' count on the PVPreport for total healed?

It's something thats kinda bothered me for a while, and on my Sci/Carrier i focus on healing yet sometimes I will be behind 'escorts' and others on the heal parse and it makes me grumble.

I know this isnt EQ2 but it is very similar to how parsers and such used to only pick up the heals done and not the Mystic/Defilers wards, making it look like the shamans were slacking even when they were beast healers. I try to not let the peeps on my 'side' lose their shields ... i mean i hull heal too but all that time focusing on shield heals and such sometimes feels like it goes 'unnoticed.'

Just my thinking I guess.

would be a good thing, i would also like the 'damage' number taken off. After all its compleatly pointless if you do a lot of damage, its more inportant WHEN you do it (so keep in the kill score, maybe add a killing blow list?)

    I totally agree with this.

I also agree with the removing the damage scores. This only makes players want to be the highest damage dealers and they go to great lenths to achieve this. Even exploiting. I remember in Warhammer, at first the pvp end-game window didnt show damage done. Then after they added it, there was a rise in damge exploits.

See i love the Damage number...and i love the heal number. I just wish there was a way to list it more 'truly' ... ie a 'DPS' as well as total damage number (the 'DPS' would basically just take into account time ALIVE in the instance, including time flying around doing nothing).

I think numbers like that are good indicators of improvement or not. They are not solely the measuring stick of course, and do not take into account things that happen (IE Having to go cap something even though theres no fighting going on there), but overall you have an idea yourself if you improved because you know you did the same thing on cap and hold 1 as you did on c&h2 and your number on 2 went up by 200,000.

I just really think they should list shield heals because they are quantifiable (sp?) numbers and it makes it seem like shield healing isnt powerful when it is sick (and omgzorz the buffs they add, but i know you cant add that or what they 'helped' by reducing other incoming damage, but the frelling shield heals themselves should count).

My numbers are always low. I play PVP like "if you die you are dead" I tactically retreat often......I also try to snag territory more then fight.....

PVP that lasts more then 5-10 mins bores me.

Today I flew my cruiser for a while.....did a FEF/FED pvp and there were all cruisers.

It felt like eldery armed with sticks trying to beat you up...took 20 minutes.

I of course did not die once but one guy bashed me for my low DPS. I did about 220k he did a million. My score 13/0 ...his kill death was 24/12.

Silly ******* does not realise that when you die you dont come back. Or so I believe.

Adabisi, I love long pvp matches (most of the time) but i hate all cruiser matches (something that i've seen on occassion in fed/fed things and it makes me really sad, its like 95% cruisers and one or two sci ships).

I still think they should add a "DPS" thing based on DPS done while 'alive', and please ffs add shield heals to the 'heals' number cause its 'heals!'

Actually another thought on this topic popped into my head

Aside from shield heals not showing, another thing that makes sci vessels show poorly on the stats.

When you use def dish abilities such as Tachyon Beam or Tyken's rift or Energy Siphon the drains to the enemy's systems arent recorded. These abilities in PVP help your team make kills easier but don't show that you've been doing much when it comes to the stat board.

These two underrated sci skill sets should both be taken into account. If there comes a time when pvp is ranked then people will stop playing sci altogether since it won't pay to be a team player.

the ONLY problem i see (in terms of the dev side) of having shields heal show, is most the shield heals add to the Regen, then combined with the natural Regen do you add the flat amount done in the first burst? the total amount over the time? or the amount of the time - the natural Regen of the ship -/+ the player changing the power settings.......

agree though it should be there, but that kind of maths gets really complicated

Why couldnt they use the same figures that apply to hull hots and the dmg resist they offer?

easy way around all this, you hit a SCi team on some one, you get a point, same for engi or tac team, extend shields? you get a point, hazard emitters? you get a point. so math involved just whether or not you used a heal on some one.

1 heal = 1 point. so if a cruier heals a escort 12 times over the corse of a match he gets 12 points.

no shield heals needs another table
    0 shields = your alive
    0 hull = your dead

fair enough i could see a shiled/hull breakdown, but still my idea was fairly simple.

what red said could be a way around.

don't get me wrong, i think it should be in game, just from a logical point of view i can see why its not (at lest yet) as it is not the same as hull healing.

Do you add all the shield heals from the 4 sectors? what if the person adjusts power settings/shields how does that effect it? can you 'spiked' the healing from 150 per tick to 600?* are you taking the increased Regen from EPtS into account? (as that and the DR are the 2 major aspects of that skill, not the minor shield heal)

    * by rerouting power from other sheilds and thus reduceing them, as the heals heal all 4 (numbers are made up)

The initial heal you give someone is based on your skill and not modified by your target. So why not just count that initial heal and give us something for now?
Then when its possible to make it a more accurate figure they can revamp how the heals are registered.

Whether or not its a truly accurate system is irrelovant to me.... I just would like to have the stats show a bit more of what i do for my team.
I think we're overcomplicating the issue.

I would still like to see some sort of stat that relates to other sci skills. Something to track how you placate or weaken enemy ships. This would be a more complicated request than shield heals but something that should be looked into.

If you don't do high dps or heal like crazy your probably looked at like a slacker.
If your teammates could see that you were consistently doing your part to make enemy ships easier to kill for them you would get some sort of recognition.
And moreso if you had that reputation more players would monopolize on the ships you weaken and make overall dps on the team higher.
