..and could start all over again, what would you do?

Thought I would ask the PVP "pain trust" for your opinions. I will level a KDF toon, but given slow queue times probably just the one.

What class / ship combo gives you the most grins in PVP? For comparison I have a Tac / Escort and Eng / Cruiser Fed side. Pug mostly. Battle Cruiser looks appealing ( I just think the things are freakin cool ) but I am worried about Alpha strike capability from cloak.

Thanks, Waff

A better answer to the question you're really asking, IMO, is to hang tight for a couple of days until the Season 2.0 patch gets pushed to Tribble, then try to catch some of the active PvP players hanging out in Ker'rat, and see what they think is going to be good in Season 2 when your character will actually be hitting the level cap and entering endgame.

Failing that, just make something you think is fun. Eng/BCs are in kinda short supply if you like healing.

Wow that was fast, TY Edgecase. Point taken.

I guess I should specify that I mostly thinking about class rather than ship type, as a respec can cure poor ship choice. Time spent levelling a toon cannot be regained. And I would like to start a KDF toon over the long weekend coming up.

Not a dedicated healing fan, which is why going Engineer worries me. Would just go Tactical, but the Battle Cruiser is calling..... IMO on Fed side Tac / Cruiser is kinda meh... same on KDF? (as of now ofc)

It's actually a hard choice for me atm, so any more input is appreciated.

    Thanks again, Waff

For grins, I really enjoy my SCI BOP. My TAC BOP is fun, but very robotic in game play.

Or you could just do what's fun for you. Strange concept, I know.

I'm currently using a Tac/BOP and Engineer/Cruiser. Haven't gotten too far with the Eng yet, but it isn't bad.

The Tac/BOP combo is a lot of fun. Maneuverable ship with your choice of BOFFs. It does good alpha strike damage, and if you know how to outfit it right (which isn't too hard), can put some good defense and get away if needed.

    Speaking of KDF noobs...

Logged on last night and ran a few PUG matches - warning to Klingons, the quality of player has dropped significantly on the Klingon side. Apparently a bunch of Feds have rerolled into Klingon toons, because the only tactic these KDFs understood in PvP gameplay was to Fed ball.

It highlights a complete lack of understanding how to play Klingon when you run around on your Klingon uncloaked balled up.

Players were better when they had to reach BG through PvP. Sad to say, but the quality of Klingons has droppde substancially with the addition of PvE. PvE experience instead of PvP experience makes you a terrible player - that is just a fact.

I rolled a Tactical Klingon to be traditional. No regrets :) even the useless racial ground traits.

BattleCruiser is a slightly different animal from Fed Cruiser... BattleCruisers can mount DCs and DHCs and actually have the turn radius to keep arc (there are threads on this). Dont have to.. you can go beams. You could actually do an offensive BattleCruiser as an Engineer.
You could still do the healer role if you wanted or just dabble... keep the utility heals (ET, Aux to SIF, HE)... Use EP2S and EP2A/EP2W along with Hull Polarization, you'd be fine.

I would do exactly what I did the first time. Make my toon and start pvp from day one to get the experience I need to be able to compete with some confidence of what I was doing.

I don't know if you've tried leveling a Klingon lately, but it doesn't sound like it. PVP is very slow in the lower ranges, meaning you level a lot faster doing exploration or the nebulas. I've been struggling with my new science officer on the KDF side because it takes too long to get into a match and grinding endlessly in exploration or nebulas is not rewarding enough and is incredibly dull and repetitive. Its hard to get any real experience in those conditions.

Its very different now from when I leveled up my first KDF.
