Tac/escort PVP

I have a tac/escort lt cmdr that I'm trying to lvl in pvp but I kinda suck at it... Going from an eng/cruiser to a tac/escort is quite a change, tactics seem to be very different so any advice would be appreciated.

I was looking at the defense bonus of my ship today and was wondering how to make it as effective as possible w/o taking too much of a hit to my dps, what are some ways to improve it? is it worth improving?

    Speed=Defense Rating

    Speed is what you need... read the Master Class post I have a page down or so.

    Emergency power to engines... or shields and then put extra power in your engines.

    Engine Battaries are useful if your using something else.

    NEVER NEVER NEVER take any power out of your guns... GUNS is for KILLING. ;)

    Line up a target
    Alpha strike him!
    Dogfight a bit (remember you still have access to things like hazard emitters, TSS, engineering team, etc. Dead dps do no dps)
    Emergency power to engines + evasive if things start to go south

    I'm a great believer in the Hit and Run mentality, I hit and run in a sci ship and a cruiser too if I can.

    Yeah you get arrested for it and locked up in RL, but here, it's LIFE!

    Yeah, when they discuss Hit and Run they never mention the escape part. Thats why no one ever gets arrested for "Hit, Run, and Escape"

    Armor is nice to have in the engineering slots. ANything that gives high bonuses to Kinetic and energy dammage or gives bonuses towards certain weapon types. I have a +15% kinetic resistance armor and a +12% restsances to all weapon types armor that does very well for me.
