If i buy Star Trek Online from Steam would they send me a activation code to unlock the full game because i have already download the demo but not from steam and that's the full game but not unlock? or would i have to re- download the game to play?
Yes, they'll send you an activation code. In the end, It doesn't matter who you get the client or the activation code from. As long as you have the full game client installed, and a valid retail activation code and subscription tied to youy Cryptic account; you'll be able to log in and have full access to the game.

when i purchased STO steam didnt email out the codes, the code is only available through steam and steam attaches it directly to your STO account which was anoying as i already has STO installed.
so what i had to do and this may be a bit vague now... was start the download process through steam you will then be able rightclick STO in steam and slect view CD key, select the game in the window that pops up select copy to clipboard.... iirc steam will attach it directly to your account or browse manaualy to your account page and attach the code manaualy
if you already have STO installed pause the download then delete and clean up the install from steam, you will not need the code again but it will remain in steam. the tiral youyve been playing is the full game with restrictions imposed by the trial code so theres no need to reinstall STO
edit: if STO is already installed you will need to recreate the shortcut to the "star trek online.exe"
