Now, I want you to remember that no Klingon ever won a war by dying for his Planet. He won it by making the other poor dumb FED die for his Planet. Fellow Klingons, all this stuff youve heard about Klingons not wanting to fight( open PvP) , wanting to stay out of the war, is a lot of horse dung.
Klingons traditionally love to fight. All real Klingons love the sting of battle. When you were tiny Klingon kids, you all admired the champion beheader, the fastest Killer, the big league Klingon fleet battles, the toughest Klingon Kane. Klingons love a winner and will not tolerate a loser. Klingons play to win all the time. I wouldnt give a hoot in hell for a Klingon who lost and laughed. Thats why Klingons have never lost and will never lose a war. Because the very thought of losing is hateful to Klingon.
Now, an Klingon fleet is a team. It lives, eats, sleeps, fights as a team. This individuality stuff is a bunch of TRIBBLE. The bilious *******s who wrote that stuff about individuality for the Rebels Evening Post dont know anything more about real battle than they do about fornicating.
We have the finest food and equipment, the best spirit and the best Klingons in the Galaxy. You know, by Kortar I actually pity those poor Federation *******s were going up against. By Kortar, I do. Were not just going to disruptor the *******s, were going to cut out their living guts and use them to grease the hinges of our sliding doors. Were going to murder those lousy Fed *******s by the bushel.
Now, some of you Klingon Science officers, I know, are wondering whether or not you'll chicken out under fire. Don't worry about it. I can assure you that you will all do your duty. The Federation are the enemy. Wade into them. Spill their blood. Shoot them in the belly. When you put your hand into a bunch of goo that a moment before was your best friend's face, you'll know what to do. Take his woman an Rank.
Now theres another thing I want you to remember. I dont want to get any messages saying that we are holding our position. Were not holding anything. Let the Feds do that. We are advancing constantly and were not interested in holding onto anything except the enemy. We're going to hold onto him by the nose and we're going to kick him in the Human TRIBBLE. We're going to kick the hell out of him all the time and we're gonna go through him like TRIBBLE through Kruges pet dog.
Theres one thing that you men will be able to say when you get back home. And you may thank Kortar for it. Thirty years from now when youre sitting around your fireside with your grandson on your knee and he asks you what did you do in the Great Galactic War, you wont have to say, "Well, I shoveled **** in Qo'noS."
Alright now, you sons-of-*****es, you know how I feel. Oh, and I will be proud to lead you wonderful Klingons into OPEN PvP battle anytime, anywhere.
You know before this game launched I really wanted to be a Klingon and do lots pvp with a few buddies of mine. Four months later, my buddies quit and I'm a cat.
So qapla my friend. I hope your efforts will lead me to honor because these hairballs are killing me.

Best story ever. I'm tempted to put this quote in my signature. lol
Seriously.. that sums up most peoples experiences with STO thus far.
I just think the "and I'm a cat." part makes the whole thing.
As far as pvp goes, yes, it would be nice to have open pvp. We will be getting it some way in the future, but details, we do not have. They've said they wanted to do it many times, so I don't think it's very likely the idea will get dropped. Either way, we just have to wait.
Oh great, another ploy for grief-tastic fully open PvP. Granted, it is veiled under the most entertaining post I've read here since a lewd joke about Escort shields a few days back, so points for delivery.
Open PvP is nothing but trouble for people who want to play the game and no have to look over their shoulder for rampaging Klingons out simply to make people cry.
However, I wouldn't be so short-sighted as to say all open PvP is bad and awful and terrible; no, far be it from me to suggest such nonsense.
What is needed are sectors devoted to open PvP. Dynamic sectors with something to gain and something to lose. Besides, what honor is there in killing a young Federation pup unwilling and/or unable to put up a fight? Surely you don't go home to your women and loyal Targs and tell them how you valiantly slew a bunch of cadets with no combat experience? What kind of a warrior would you be!?
No. Willing opponents are what you want. That's where the honor is, my bloodthirsty friends. Those with as much to lose as you will surely put up a fight to tell your friends about around the fire when you return home. Every new scar is a mark of valor, every nick on your blade is a last mark made by those who died at your hands.
So, instead of forcing your griefer's paradise down all our throats, take a whole sector or two, and those who want to die on your blades for nothing line up at your feet. For only in glorious, honorable combat can honor be gained.
I dislike PvP in general, for many reasons, but I also support the inclusion of open PvP areas. That is, specific areas where those who ARE interested can enjoy it. Just because I won't use them, doesn't mean no one will or should. If they're going to cater to the sensibilities of the RP/PvE/STCanon crowd (all of which I count myself a member of), then it's only fair to cater to those on the other side of the coin as well.
If it's not going to detrimentally affect my enjoyment of the game, then I have NO problem with it.

Dont know if you know this but the Federation is actually at war with the Klingons.

You know how bad that sounds ?
PvP in this game is a huuge joke. There is no real pvp what so ever. There is a few maps that players are sick and tired of that has nothing to do with a war zone. But one thing the klingon side know all tto well is that Cryptic made this game for only pve players and that is why so many klingons and federation players have left for other games that have real pvp.

PvP is a joke in just about any game, imo.
You need to realize that not everyone PvP's, and chances are if they made the entire game open PvP, a sizable chunk of the player base would probably up and leave.
It would not be a wise decision for Cryptic to let loose the dogs (klingons) of war across the board like that.
I'm sorry you feel left out because you don't have your fill of counterstrike (or whatever lame multiplayer FPS people are playing these days) in a Star Trek game.
And the arguement that "Federation and Klinks are at war," isn't good enough.
No i wasnt clear enough there sry, i'm not saying open PvP as in able to attack everyone.
There should be some sort of flagging system. Make it a part of the tutoriol very clearly to players how this works ingame. If the devs are remaking sector space then they should atleast make a large portion of it open for real pvp. I mean when i'm doing patrols in romulan space against klingons , but klingons cant go there ingame. So yes some places like sol dont have to be open etc. Pve players have to respect that a very large part of the community love real pvp and they can play a game that doesnt have this.
It's a little quieter but more violent though but it reminds me of my days as a recruit.
Honestly, I'm not sure. Theres a lot of ways to do open pvp. Personally I'd like to see it open absolutely everywhere, but thats just me; and those who don't want that could have an option which they could change once every 24 hours or so that included them or excluded them from this pvp, the 24 hour bit would avoid a lot of abuse, in my opinion. I'll probably be satisfied with most things though.

A bit of reality
STO goes open PvP
60%-70% of the Federation only players cancel thier subscriptions
STO has the plug pulled due to lack of subscription funding.
It would all happen in 1-2 months
THE ONLY WAY....create a separate PvP server
problem, STO doesn't have the resources to do it.
I roasted your pet targ and splashed pink paint on your favorite bird of prey. Being the sneaky coward that I am, my crew vented laughing gas throughout your ship and now all your officers are as giddy as vulcan children hyped up in root beer.

....alas.....the federation needs more tribles to put on the bridge they cant put anything on....
Im afraid the quest for glory will just have to wait...

Rousing speech. But you targ lovers will never win! NEVAR.
As for PVP this seems to be the wrong fanbase. Star Trek is about peace and love and wearing spock ears and getting beat up at recess.
Well, maybe not the last part.

Still, 9/10 for a good rousing take on a speech
Still Patton was better.
