Trying to update launcher?

So, I saw at least a couple threads a few days ago re: this, but no suggestions I've seen have worked out. Sorry if this has already been addressed and I've missed it. The launcher hangs trying to update the and periodically retries. I've checked the settings on (and even disabled entirely) both firewall and malware stuff. I'm running the game as admin and killed just about every other running process. I tried the downloadable setup exe, checked IE for weird settings, and then reinstalled the game completely.

This is from the nettest app:

contacting nettest server..

hit return to exit

The launcher never seems to be receiving an ack from the patchserver:

Active Connections

Proto Local Address Foreign Address State

TCP 192.168.1.200:50041 patchserver.crypticstudios.com:7255 SYN_SENT
[Star Trek Online.exe]

If I periodically run netstat, there's no change.

Ideas?

Are you running the most up to date version of IE, and make sure work offline is not checked.

Yup. IE is at 8.0.7600.16385. Work offline mode is unchecked. Still no luck.

you also need to check that your IE internet options connections lan setting did not get set to use a proxy.
runing as admin do you mean you are logged in as the admin or you set the properties of the launcher.exe and gameclient.exe to run as admin.

    Thanks for the reply.

From the IE settings/LAN settings, I'm not config'd for a proxy. I usually run the sto apps as admin, esp since this started. :-\

ok just re check cause I seen it happen
firewall and antivirus programs are you just disabling or shutting them down . Because I have seen both typed of programs leave componets still running in memory blocking the game even when disabled.

also try flushing the dns cache incase you have a bad pointer to the patchserver

in command prompt type ipconfig /flushdns
