More specifically, what will happen once more and more fed players clamor for Cryptic to give other ships a fed cloak, or any other thing they perceive to be imbalanced. Right now, I only see maybe 2-3 AGT ships over the course of a night's round of C/H / arenas (about 5-6 matches for me).
Given how most players do purchase different ship skins now, I can comfortably bet that a lot more AGT ships will arrive when they actually put it up in the C-store. Possibly going to be the most popular with the tac/cruiser DPS crowd.
Fed ships, by rule, do not have cloaking devices. The Defiant only did becaus of the Dominion War, I think (I've never watched DS9 completely) and Pegasus was a illegeal expirement. To keep it canon, normal Fed ships should not have cloaks.
The impending release of the Galaxy X to C-Store is a disastorous blow for Klingon PvP players...
Coupled with Cryptics policy of not having game changing items in C-Store this suggests mainstream Cloaking for newer Starfleet ship addittions will be coming soon.
I'm not trying to incite a riot with this thread, I just honestly see more and more feds clamoring for a cloakable ship of their own type once the AGT hits the c-store.
If I were a cruiser pilot I'd get one in a heartbeat. I want a neg'vahr fed side, and this is it.

If only there were some "war" that might threaten the federation, the romulan star empire AND the klingon empire. That might prompt the federation to once again get some wiggle room and equip cloaking devices.
But it'd have to be some really big baddie. Like the Undine. Or the Iconians.
And that's probably not going to happen. The federation, going to war, with the Undine. Or the Iconians. Hah. Right.
sINCE THE agt-x DOESN'T HAVE BATTLE CLOAK, ITS NOT THAT USEFUL REALLY.

lol... how is this going to be a disastrous blow for Klingon PvP players ?...
After something like a week, you will not see many Galaxy X Classes in PvP at all... she holds no real advantage over anything currently in game...
For the Federation that Thinks the Cloak = "I Win Button" will find infact the Cloak = "Broken I Win Button" for the Galaxy X atleast...
However... if the Federation gets hold of the Defiant with a Cloaking Generator... then and only then will that be a Challenge to the Mighty Klingon Empire !....
Just wait till you try the Galaxy X, only then will you understand how much of a disastrous blow for Federation PvP players it will be
Stupid carebear Feds! PvP isn't unbalanced! It's not the cloak! It's that you suck!
What's that? You're getting a ship . . . with . . . a cloak?
. . . . .
MOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMYYYYYYY! **SOB SOB SOB** I DON'T WANT TO FIGHT THE CLOAK!
 There are times when I think that PvP in this game is an endless circle of whiners whining about whiners. Like a snake eating it's own tail.
I don't care about the debate on whether the Galaxy-X should be exclusive or not, but imo they should remove the cloaking component of that ship. Maintaining game balance in PvP should be tantamount.

lol Trust me the Galaxy X will not affect the PvP Game Balance in the slightest, Cloak or no Cloak !
I for one hope to see the Galaxy X fully Equipped in the C-Store...
For the Federation that Thinks the Cloak = "I Win Button" will find infact the Cloak = "Broken I Win Button" for the Galaxy X atleast...
The Klingons could always use the Feds method of whining till they nerf the cloak on the AGT-X into uselessness.
It would be ironically funny, but not very Klington.
It's a non-combat cloak anyway from what I've been reading, so how is it such a big deal as (unlike many Klingon ship types) the Fed player CAN'T just re-cloak while under fire? Seriously? And are you guys going to keep whining when the Romulan faction is added to the PvP mix?
(And no, I don't play a Klingon yet - but I plan to start one when Season 2 hits).

The only Klingon Ships that can use the Battle Cloak is the Bird of Prey line and even then the first B'Rel Class in STO has no Battle Cloak... you have to wait till Lt. Commander to get the Battle Cloak...
and you are right, once the Romulans are released we will see the exact same thing... and again the Romulan Bird of Prey should have a Battle Cloak while all the other Romulan Ships will only have the Standard Cloak...
Will be interesting to see Romulans vs Klingons in PvP, who will de-cloak First ? lol
As a primarily Klingon PvPer (BOP and Cruiser mainly), I can say.... I'm not worried about the cloak, and I could care less if Feds can cloak. I play a fed at RA5 and cloaking is really not as "win" as people seem to think it is.
Once the novelty wears off, they'll find it's barely worth the effort most of the time. In my cruiser I don't even bother to cloak a majority of the time.
A bigger issue is encroachment though. If this is the catalyst that leads to "zomg we need cloak too!!211" rhetoric, one has to just bring up a thing that exists in game already.
KvK PvP. When's the last time you did it? Right. This'll be an issue with RvK pvp when the times comes...

I agree, The Feds are going to be very disappointed if they think the Galaxy X is their "I Win Button"...
R vs K, maybe True, will have to wait and see what happens... it may even make the que system even worse than it is now, we will be back to 1 hour Wait times for sure
The canon issue, since there seems to be some vaguery here, is that the peace treaty from way back in the long ago time between Romulus and Earth, after they fought their first space war using primitive atomic weapons, had as one of its clauses that the Federation could not develop a cloaking device for any of its ships. (The analogy was to nuclear weapons on 20th century earth, where many treaties involved abandoning atomic weapons research). That treaty remains in effect all the way up to the present in the STO timeline. The alternate future in which the Enterprise-X existed probably followed the collapse of the Romulan Star Empire, making the treaty irrelevant.
The Defiant was the product of a deal made between the Federation and the Romulans at the start of the Dominion War, by which the Defiant was allowed to be equipped with a Klingon cloaking device on the condition that the device was only allowed to be used in the Gamma Quadrant. Sisko broke that, and a lot of other rules, over the course of the Dominion War. (Keep in mind also that in the case of all common technology, the Romulans developed it, and the Klingons bought and/or pirated it).
So, ideally, if Cryptic is going to make Fed cloaking widespread, they'll have some in game story explanation, possibly surrounding the introduction of the Romulan faction to the game, i.e. the Admiralty of Starfleet considers the remains of the Romulan Star Empire no longer a credible threat, so they're willing to break the treaty to fight for self-preservation against the Undine/Iconians/etc. while the Romulans see the breach of treaty as one more Federation betrayal and move to a war footing.

It was a Romulan cloaking device, run by a Romulan Sub Commander, who despite being a potential regular dissappears after the two parter introducing the Defiant and the Founders.
Klingon's traded warships for cloaking. This is why the Romulans ran around with D7s for a while.

About the Defiant type Class Escort...
It is rare for the Federation to design a Pure Combat vessel, but it was very much needed to combat the Borg... however that threat died down and was to be used in combat with the Dominion War instead...
To me the Defiant seemed to have been built with a Cloak in mind, she is a small Powerful Escort Ship and pretty much the Federation Version of the Bird of Prey... if the Defiant type class ever gets a permanent Cloaking Device then the Klingons and who ever else are the Enemys of the Federation will be in BIG Trouble...
Ingame now I see the odd maxed level players flying the Defiant with Great Skill and Tactics and are very tough to deal with... they are playing a Captain version of the Ship with the rest of the RA Level players...
I would like to see a Defiant with a Cloak, but there are Valid points that this should not be so, in this community and in Star Trek Federation Lore....

the defiant (with the cloak device) had blown up in the war when the breen allied with the dominion. i know sisko got commend on another defiant class ship and got orders the re-name it to defiant again.
been awhile since i watched it, but i don't think the new one had a cloak device onboard.

The Romulan Star Empire government collapsed and a new group took up the name in STO.
Beyond that, we're basically at war with the Romulans at this point as well after the LtCmdr mission chains.
The whole point of the Undine plot and the larger plot behind it is that everyone is at war with everyone else.
To my knowledge, the only standing, non-hostile alliance left between any two Alpha or Beta Quadrant powers that haven't absorbed eachother is between the Federation and the Cardassians.
Personally, I think that the cloaking device gives the Klingons an unfair tactical advantage and it will detract a lot of Fed players. Myself included, I only do FVF pvp now, because I'm sick of them running away and cloaking. I mean what is it about Klingon players, they don't act like klingons... I mean talk about a bunch of cowards.

My understanding is that it's NOT a combat cloak so the Galaxy X won't be retreating from any battles with it. Ambushes? Yes. Retreats? No.
