It's been officially announced that the Galaxy-X is going to be a C-Store item.

Now we can envision fleets of Fed vs. Fed sitting in cloak for hours on end not attacking each other!

Hooray ! lol

Game breaking or just plain stupid?

Just like KVK then, but anyhow that slow turdball is so TRIBBLE and ppl who fit cannons on it is stupid, it offers nothing then a fancy beam overload and cloak.

    It actually offers less -

    1 less Tactical Slot

    1 less aft Weapon slot.

Horrible Phaser Lance (on the same CD as Beam Overload) - narrow arc.

    Bad turn rate

Everyone cloaking though on Fed side?

Even out of combat online it's a really silly mechanic to give to EVERY fed.

Certainly it won't make a difference in the sense of who "wins" it's just going to be a really annoying mechanic to deal with and a really idiotic concept overall.

That will break the sensible balance in pvp completely. Until now, the Galaxy-X was rare and only available for players which spent lots of time to recruit new players.

Now, there's the first item with an pvp-ingame-advantage in the c-store. Available to everyone for money.

You will see Galaxy-X-Clone-Wars in PvP within a few days. Most of the PvP-focused Federation Fleets will built up Galaxy-X-Cloaked-Squads.

Showstopper and worst case for the Star Trek atmosphere.

Great. So, FvF will become a graveyard like KvK. For that matter so will FvK.... Matches already take much longer with changes to healing... "i'll be done in a few" will become "Eight hours later......." Smooth move here

I can't imagine but people will be smart enough to leave a tank/lure uncloaked, at least once they rally together. I mean if the klingon team doesn't know the entire fed team is cloaking galaxy x's, that could be confusing, sure; but people should really use zone chat when something like that comes up.

I'll offer myself as bait - causing them to decloak.

Then, my faster, better armed, more maneuverable teammates will strike at them. :)

LOL game breaking? I can't wait for the romulans to come out... Then you'll be wining about RvK cloaks waaa waaa waaa we all have cloaks waaaa where's my bottle! Just because it's a new ship and has cloak doesn't mean everyone will pilot it. You really are just a big bunch of babies that have nothing better to do that QQ about every little thing that you don't like and whats worse is you QQ before something even happens and jump to all sorts of conclusions.

Is the STO playerbase really so young?

I dunno, I may ban it in the 182'nd fleet. Would have to see the general reactions within my fleet though.

    I pretty much agree.

The Galaxy class is my least favorite of the canon ship designs anyway, and the third nacelle makes it look even worse.

I'm not the least bit worried about it. I would ROFL if I saw a team of Galaxy X and they would be vaporized by Klings like always.

Finally people will realize that cloak is not an IWIN button!

Future prediction: Feds will complain they don't have battle cloak and therefore Klingons still have the advantage. Any takers?

Almost everyone knows that the people who claim cloak is overpowered, when given that ability, are going to be no more effective than they are now. It's going to be especially embarrassing when Klinks adapt to detect cloaked ships and unload their alpha strike on shieldless powered downed hulls.

That being said, I would snag that Galaxy-X in a heartbeat even if they neutered the cloak (which I'd rather they did for all but the folks who met the original requirements). I always liked the look (except for maybe the spoilers on the saucer section) and its the closest I can get to a Galaxy class in T5 combat. Personally, I'd still prefer that they just allowed us to have costumes for our T5 ships but whatever.

Methinks the devs really should be playing some KvK instead of Fleet Actions before deciding to make cloaking easily accessible for the Fed faction.

From the day it hits the C-Store, I'm going to avoid arenas like the plague. (Or maybe spec my DSSV fully for healing/shield tanking, as it will no doubt be the target of every alpha strike ever.) At least capture & hold is not that much affected by it, since you need to be decloaked to capture points...

its more along the lines of kvk, where both sides cloak and refuse to come out.

    "lol, just uncloak"
    "noU"
    ...15 minutes pass...
"ok i'm bored, Look! I'm uncloaking"
"its a trap, don't go in"
    ...

I can see the pugs now... and the one poor little fed escort sitting there with his 4 Galaxy X buds waiting to decloak. I really feel for the poor pug guys... teams may adapt to use 1 or 2 in intresting ways. Might even be fun.
On looking at the specs I don't see what the big deal is... seems to me like it won't be all that hard to smoke them.

I'm waiting for the fed calls to nerf CPB. lol

I'm looking forward to the ones who aren't going to decloak until the rest of the team has pounded someone down enough to line up a kill shot, then beat their chest and flex. There is going to be a huge increase in the number of complaints about effective players ganking ships and using sensor hax0rz to see through cloak.

Yep this is going to be hilarious. I'm actually looking forward to Feds getting the Galaxy X. Now I can justify not using lube :)

Feds pleeeeease get cloak *then* complain about how overpowered it is lolol.

I think would actually be good for the game. Because if _all_ players and not just KLingons suffer from the issue, they would revise the cloaking mechanic to change stealth detection.

Of course, in another aspect it's bad for the game. I do not want Federation cloak. Cloak is not for the good guys in the Startrek Universe!

I think most of the references to Klingon cloak being OP refer more to the aspects of Battle Cloak, the use of cloak on BoP's and Raptors (high DPS/high maneuverability ships) and the associated bonuses applied, and the fact the entire Klingon team gets it.

That's not the Galaxy X. So to characterize it as "Hey, Feds....now you have cloak so you can't complain" and similar arguments don't really hold water. Be that as it may, the Galaxy X is akin to giving the Feds a Klingon Cruiser with less weapon slots, less BO slots, and less base maneuverability. Hardly game-breaking and reeks of another desperate Cryptic cash-grab.

I do agree with you that it will be hilarious to see some of the PUG tactics devised to use this new C-Store item and their reactions to FvF matches and people who have extensive experience beating the best Klingon teams. I foresee my fleet getting the same type of hate/haxor messages we get when pulling Klingons out of cloak...

I get what you're saying, BountyXP, and I agree.

I was more referring to the fact that Feds will get cloak and *still* complain. People will ask for a buff when they realize it's not an IWIN. Mainly, most people won't use it the way it's supposed to be used - which is an extra advantage for Klinks because cloak is actually detrimental if not used properly.

The Klingon cruiser has its own niche with advantages/disadvantages and I don't think the Galaxy X is trying to carve a spot in its territory.

Yes, it's hardly game-breaking, which seems like a common misconception for both factions.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some things like...
"Nerf Sensor Scan and cloak detection in general."
"This is the only Fed ship that cloaks - it should get battle cloak."
"The cloak damage buff isn't enough - I can't one-shot someone with my cruiser."
"The Galaxy X hull needs a buff because people kill me too fast when I'm cloaked and my shields are down."
"Hey noob! You're in a cruiser! Don't just wait there cloaked to ambush a target - HEAL MEEE!!."

    etc. etc.

Of course this will only hasten the nerf QQ'ing on the forums against cloak. Sometimes I think Cryptic has no idea what they are doing. Look on the bright side. Now I get to be insulted by Klingons and Feds when using Charged Particle Burst...;)

The first time 2 sci bops streak in 5km apart and both hit Charged partical... it is going to be very very funny. When 3 beached whales all drop out of cloak and loose 4k in shields... 8k for the poor sap in the middle of the bursts.... lol it will be gloryious... and the end of a few Fed Cloak experiments.

Its a junk ship, it is almost easier to pop a RA5 escort driver. All the ones I have fired on usually melt once the shields come down.

It's just plain stupid, and it won't help the terrible Fed players that are so naive that they actually think that it's cloaking that makes the average Klingon pug beat the average Federation pug......

People come in with this ship and expect that they'll own without much effort. In the past two days I've run across these pilots and all want to taunt about playing like a Klingon or hang back for the better part of a battle. This is going to put a bright bullseye on you especially once it becomes clear that you don't actually have the skill to back it up. I take more issue with people who act like cloak is the only thing that causes them to lose.

I do recall being amazed to see what I thought was a Galaxy Class pilot back before I knew the X was on the way. That guy, whose name escapes me now, was actually quite impressive in it and if more Feds played it that way things would definitely get tough against fleets of these guys.

Thats just it... are good cruiser drivers really wanting Cannons.... and an alpha strike??? I don't think so the Garbage X drivers are not going to be playing to its possible strengths.

I'am sure a few will suprize... but how many really.

I just don't want cloak on the Fed side at all and I primarily play a Fed.

It's a stupid mechanic for Feds and should be very limited if put in the game at all.

I don't want to be in a pug vs pug match with 9 ships all cloaked up + me and no one on my team wants to uncloak.

The griefing annoyance potential is huge.

Look at KvK. It's a graveyard because it's stupid.
