Game Server Connection Failed

I've been getting kicked off a lot lately, when transferring between instances. Virtually every time I hit a loading screen, I'm kicked from the server.

Is this a server-side issue? Or something on my end?

Post your Dxdiag from system to the end of sound devices.

To create a DXDiag report, follow these steps:

    1. Click "Start" menu, then click "Run"
    2. In the "Open" box, type: DXDiag (hit enter)
    3. If this is your first time running DXDiag, click "Yes" to launch the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
    4. Click "Save All Information" to create a DXDiag report.
    5. Choose a name and location for the dump file (recommend desktop) and click "Save".

Well first and foremost I would say update your video drivers they are about 6 months old. STO is very picky with drivers. Try the game after that and then give us an update.

While I'll certainly do that right now, I can assure that that it's not the cause.

Not only has the launcher been very slow to connect as well, as has the account server after logging in.

The issue is new, having only begun yesterday.

Well with trouble shooting an issue we gotta start somewhere! :p

Ok then with that out of the way can you copy/paste the results of the following tests?

    Run a trace route:

    * Click on Start
    * Click on Run, or if using Windows Vista just skip to the next step
    * Type cmd into the dialog box and press Enter.
    * In the window that opens type "tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com"
    * Check the speed listed on the return

If you see any hops over 180ms, this could be the cause of the rubber banding.

How to acquire, run and read the Nettest tool:

    Go to http://files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe
Download the application and run it (Windows 7 and Vista users make sure to right click the icon and run as admin if you are having issues with the tool running.)

The Nettest tool checks that the ports required for patching and playing Star Trek Online are not blocked or filtered. Good values returned from the Nettest tool look like:

Column 1 and 3 have values around 500 kb/sec (outgoing/incoming), column 2 has values around 20 kb/sec (transfer rate). If the values in these columns is less than what is expected you may have filtering or blocked ports either on your personal network or from your ISP.

The tracert didn't show anything interesting, but the nettest did.

There was no number in column one above 260, in column 2 above 16, and column 3 didn't register at all, coming back as zero.

    As for the ports:

    7003 : timed out
    7202: timed out
    7499: timed out x2

Check your security protocols and make sure that exceptions have been made for Star Trek. Even if you have made them previously redo them just in case. Also make sure outbound TCP traffic open on ports 7000-7499.

I forwarded ports 7000-7500 on my router, and I disabled Windows Firewall. The Nettest results are still in the same range, and I still have disconnections.

I think I may have solved this.

Under the launcher options, going to "US " under the "Proxy Server" seems to bypass wherever the connection problem is.

    Thanks for your time.
