Hi there, after the restart today my launcher is downloading a hugh patch, in the area of 7400mb and I haven't seen anything mentioned about a patch today. Has my launcher gone crazy?

There wasn't a patch last night, just a restart. Try using force verify in the launcher options.
Thanks for the tip. It verified for a bit and resumed patching with 4551mg left to patch. Any thoughts? It's like it's trying to download all of the game files again.

Are you running on Windows Vista or 7? If so did you install the game to the default directory or did you choose a customer directory? Also hit the X key while patching as that will tell you the directory it is patching to.
Ah, I was hoping it was just a launcher issue. I'm using the Unofficial Mac Version (1.1) [http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=76799] so I may be SoL. It is patching to the default directory and looking at the file list 'x' brings up and what it will verify it appears to be trying to redownload the game assets. I haven't had any issues running STO on my MacBook until now. I can check in with that group and see if they have any ideas.

doh and crew generally answer support requests faster in the mac thread, so in the future that is a better bet for any questions.
Aye, I have figured that out now, I'm still a relatively new convert from WoW. Doh, there was no test server swap. The only difference that I can think of is I managed to attempt to log in during the server downtime; after that it kept trying to complete a massive download. I correct the issue by transferring a copy of the game install I had on a usb drive and repatched the last c-stor update patch and have been fine since then. I will let you know in the mac thread if it reoccurs.

never expect it to fully work perfectly in all situations... I can only do so much, my actual Wine hacking ability is very limited... some minor changes is one thing... maybe we can find someone else here that can hack the Wine source up with some specific STO things that would help problems. I have to waste too much time on school programming projects until I graduate.. that are so extremely boring and easy... I'm trying to find the time to teach myself more cocoa and about OSX, so hopefully one day I can make a native OSX Quartz driver for Wine, and not need X11.. then things would start running a lot better.... mmmmm yummy
