2xGTS 250 freezes (hard lock)

Star Trek Online keeps freezing on me, I have put my dxdiag and game preferences on megaupload.

This current driver set up is the best one at the moment, on windowed mode I can play for about 1-2 hours and then it will lock up, if I play on full screen it will freeze after 20 minutes. If I update to the latest nvidia drivers it will freeze within a few minutes of playing on any sort of settings. I have googled freezing on my card and there are some threads saying to change antialiasing and other things but this does not work on my system.

Regards
StiM

    Try

Under the nvidia control panel and under 3d settings > manage 3d settings there is a setting for pre-rendered frames set that too 0

Still hard locking unfortunatly, seemed to last a little bit longer though but I cant really tell because it does appear to lock up at random times.

Have you tried disabling SLI? We currently do not have any major features that take advantage of it.

    SLI was already off

Try running some stress test tools to see if any of the hardware is faulting. Unfortunately I cannot recommend one since we do not make any of them here, but many people who surf these forums can.

I'd try one of the following to check you temperatures:
Use Riva Tuner (free download) to check the temperature - possibly underclock, if thermal problem.
Use Lavalys Everest (free download) - can do stress test and temperature check.

I'd recommend downloading the latest drivers for your card, completely uninstalling your graphic card's drivers, reboot, and then install those new card drivers you download.

    Good stress tests:

FurMark (make sure you run SLI mode).
    Prime95 (blended test)

Do those for a while... if the freezing and locking continues, you've probably got hardware issues to work out.

EDIT: HWmonitor is a good tool to monitor system vitals. Furmark will overlay both GPU temps during stress testing. Just from what you've described, it sounds heat related. Tis the season!

I will try those stress tests, I cannot update my drivers as the newest version freezes on every game I have for some reason. At the moment this build on freezes on STO

Wow looks like overheating, furmark made my card shoot up to just over 80 degrees then my systems froze. Not good!

That sucks, sorry to hear it.

It's likely you just need to blow the computer out, since we're now going into summer.

You may simply need a new case, as well. I recommend the Antec 300 or 900 series.

OK its not overheating, as 80 degrees on my card is actually no where near cut off point for my card (according to system manufacturer) and after putting all settings at super low on STO it still decided to freeze after 5 minutes when not doing much at all, just flying towards a planet.
