Got this idea when GM Emergency QA Hologram was in zone chat.
The idea is that the neutral zone between fed and klingon sides would be open to attacks at anytime. Though it could be instanced so only tier one in one instance, that way a rear admiral can not come up on a lt. commander and make his life hell.
basically say a klingon wants to fight a fed, well the klingon flys up to say within 1.5 ly from the fed. they are both then sucked into an instance where they duke it out until one of them is dead, say best out of 3. they start at opposite sides of a small map where they then meet in the middle. all the powers work the same, so if the klingon really wants to they can cloak up to the fed and then get into a prime firing position.
there can also be an open pvp area for fed on fed, and klingon on klingon. works the same way as fed vs klingon. but with klingon vs klingon, so that they dont stay stealthed forever is that after a minute someone randomly gets decloaked and their position is known on the map for say 30 seconds.
please feel free to add to my ideas, the more we hammer this idea out the better the system can be.
Not bad. I don't necessarily think it needs to be 2/3. Just a single round. But I think world pvp in the border sectors would be cool. I think it would be really cool if they could adapt the pvp so it was kind of like the realm vs realm combat in dark age of camelot.
This is a good idea and seems to handle the problems of wandering gankers as well, plus it would give the illusion of space in STO being bigger than it really is.
The sad thing is during the big survey that Cryptic did a month or two ago, World PvP encounters with persistent zones and capturable objectives was at the bottom of the list of desired features.
Honestly I don't even think the majority of STO players know what they want but we do know 95% of them are PvE'ers.
Granted I never played past a little of the beta, but isn't that kind of how PoTBS was? You'd have a wide open space (like sector space) and then an enemy could pursue and engage, like the DSEs do.

My fleet mates and I were discussing the desire for a Fleet PvP system. It would take 5 person teams from 2 fleets and pit them against each other in an arena. The difference between this and the current PvP ques, is that we would like to be able to setup groups of different ranks: like 2 RA, 1 Capt, 1 CDR, 1LCDR, that sort of thing.
Many issues...Levels? Groups? Anti-ganking measures? What area? Is there any reason to go in that area other than PvP? Consensual combat, or is entering the area consent enough?

I doubt this will happen anytime soon if ever.

Any chance of this being in the works?
FFA Zone or team balance worst case scenario.
Entering the zone is consent.
PvE and PvP rewards should be plentiful in the zone as well as objectives for both.
