Can't seem to get launcher to communicate

I lost connectivity to the game and now the launcher doesn't want to seem to communicate with STO. Anyone got any ideas on how to force the launcher to communicate?

    1. Check your membership is active (judging by post i would say yes)
    2. Check your firewall i have had issues with windows 7 64bit firewall blocking it and AVG is not keen on it either
    3. if you have a disk reinstall the game and see if that resolves issue

    hope this helps

ps if your ping rate is to high that can cause issues as your browser times out, check your speed at www.speedtest.net should be no higher than 50 worsed case if it is contact your internet service provider

Unable to Authenticate is finally started showing up. I was not getting anything once I put my user name and password in. The launcher was just sitting there like it was thinking.

Humm might be a network issue lets get some information on your connection to the servers.

    Run a trace route:

    * Click on Start
    * Click on Run, or if using Windows Vista just skip to the next step
    * Type cmd into the dialog box and press Enter.
    * In the window that opens type "tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com"
    * Check the speed listed on the return

If you see any hops over 180ms, this could be the cause of the rubber banding.

How to acquire, run and read the Nettest tool:

    Go to http://files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe
Download the application and run it (Windows 7 and Vista users make sure to right click the icon and run as admin if you are having issues with the tool running.)

The Nettest tool checks that the ports required for patching and playing Star Trek Online are not blocked or filtered. Good values returned from the Nettest tool look like:

Column 1 and 3 have values around 500 kb/sec (outgoing/incoming), column 2 has values around 20 kb/sec (transfer rate). If the values in these columns is less than what is expected you may have filtering or blocked ports either on your personal network or from your ISP.

Copy and paste these results in this thread.

    I TOTALLY AGREE.....

Just so you both know any internet speed tests are not going to really help in the diagnosis of a network problem. Especially if the server the connection is being tested against is no where near the cryptic servers.

Ok so there is not anything majorly wrong here. Check your IE and make sure its completely up to date, as the launcher depends on some of its components. Also make sure that your security protocols are allowing traffic for Star Trek Online.

If it doesn't there are still a few options.
