alrighty everyone, what is the single best tip you have for doing pvp?
mine is when being followed by an escort (theyre hugging your TRIBBLE) i just back up and let them fly by, works best with evasive manuvers so it happens quickly. the number of times ive done that to someone chasing me is amazing because its like they never expected it

Bring offensive skills to kill... and defensive skills. Have shield heals and hull heals... bring hull resists, and shield reists. AOE powers, and single target powers.
I guess the point is try not to have a loapsided build.
And of course distribute your shields.
This is still a great thread on keybinding.
http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=66110
I suggest removing this keybind in the list, because or there is something wrong with my sto/setup..
I notice sometimes I wanna start taking and i have "alt" pressed according to the game and i start to switch fullscreenwindowed too fullscreen... VERY Annoying.
Another thing is READ COMBATLOG.. you died to something really bad, omgbbQhax?!... check and you'll see if it was a torpedo or a beam overload or maybe someone jammed you and rammed you?
KEYBIND SKILLS ppl, a slow player dies more then someone having all skills bound to good keys and I do not mean alt+1 is a good key good keys consist of 1 keyboard button.
Have skills you wanna have up all the time and wanna balance shields?
/bind Space "GenSendMessage HUD_Root FireAll$$+trayexecbytray 0 0$$+trayexecbytray 0 1$$+trayexecbytray 0 2$$+trayexecbytray 0 3$$+trayexecbytray 0 4$$+trayexecbytray 0 5$$+trayexecbytray 0 6$$+trayexecbytray 0 7$$+trayexecbytray 0 8$$+trayexecbytray 0 9"

This macro will fire all keys(Combat buffs) on lowest bar fire on your opponent and balance your shields
Pretend you know what you're doing.
Its worked for me since launch.
Whilst this is kind of true. It is not totally accurate.
For instance a science character can fly a Negh'var to great success. A bop or carrier isnt always the best route to take.
I think he's saying - Don't bring a pve build into pvp. you can't get away with bringing tactical team 3 and expect to dps well, for example.
Not what I meant at all.
One of my friends grinded up an engineer, and has a very creative BoP build he will fly in Cap and Hold - the BoP uses 0 Engineer officers. Instead, he uses 2 Sci and 2 Tactical BOs, and that build is a sick 1v1 quick kill nightmare.
By aligning a Captain skill point tree with a ship and BO configuration to do exactly what he wants to do, he is successful when doing what his ship is designed to do - and is not successful when trying to play a different style (tank the fedball, for example).
When you align your character skill points, ship, and bridge officers up with a successful playstyle, you will find more success than when these things are not in sync. PvPers are best when they know exactly how they like to play - and align all of the mechanics under their control (Captain skills, ship, BOs, weapons, and ship gear) to optimize towards that desired playstyle.
That synergy is the most important thing in PvP - everything else comes after a player achieves that. You can't be a good teammate if you don't know wtf you are doing yourself first.
Blackjack
This is what bad for this great game. Peaple that dont want to adapt to something or cant learn how to counter it scream nerf it. Peaple like this is whats wrong with sto.
P.S I will see you on the battle field one day and it will be a good day for you to die again and again, you will feel the pain of a nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnef!
Hit and run ftw! Also, try not to get suckered by elitist (or self important) trash talkers. Focus. Don't be a TRIBBLE.
yes that helps
but yeah, support your sci guys
2. Read the forums with an open, maleuable mind.
3. get into a pvp fleet and start making contact with others and learn from their positives and negatives.

You are going to die. It is going to happen. You will respawn. You will get revenge. Don't sweat dying.
