It's ridiculous when you enter a match, with 2 against, 5 or 3 against 5. You CANNOT win. This has happened to me many times. It does not make if fun. Don't let anyone join the game until a FULL 10 people go into the Arena match. PLEASE fix this.
Please for the love of GOD. AUTO TEAM people that join the ARENA match. So we don't have to team. Just let everyoine be on the team AUTOMATICALLY.
I'm certainly not going to argue with you that the queue systems needs work. You are absolutely right. However, I suspect that they already are waiting for both sides to fill their minimum as you've requested it's more that players who were lined up may have opted out, been afk, or gone on to some other match that queued up around the same time.
And just to show that being out numbered isn't a certain loss:
Don't let anyone join the game until a FULL 10 people go into the Arena match. PLEASE fix this.
Now, as I understand it you don't want anyone to be called to a match unless a full match can be guaranteed.
Except, how can you know if the players will come when called without calling them? Some people would call that a paradox. We, who write software for a living, call it a much worse name.
Actually my favorite odds are 3v5. Makes the game more interesting. 2v5 is doable with a good teammate if the opposing side is unorganized and lacks any skilled players.
But anyway, yes... the queue system sucks. Fix it, please.
Yeah, our fleet was running kling alts at Commander last night, and we ended up 5 vs 2 Feds. We were nice though, and rather than steamroll them, we just stayed cloaked and opted for 1v1 duels with each of them. I'm not sure how many groups will offer to even the odds a little, or just attack.
But yeah, they need to work on the queue system, or at least offer to cancel the match if they can't fill or, or nothing happens within a certain period of time. Especially for ground; at least in space you can fly to the map edge, but if the other team doesn't realize you did that, they may be flying around forever looking for you.
It has come to our attention that your precious offspring has been queuing for PvP matches on Star Trek Online but not entering the match when called.
Could you please ensure that the apple of your eye has taken his Ritalin before he enters the queue and so does not become bored while waiting to be called.
Well, I was thinking more in terms of merging/reshuffling the queues back together to rebalance matches, end matches if the other side doesn't show up or leaves, etc.
Yeah, we use that when no one shows up on the other side, or the opponents leave due to the unbalnced teams. However for ground you have to do the logout for 3 minutes thing instead which is an annoyance.
The problem with the existing Queue is that it can't really handle when players choose not to join a match.
Players not Joining
1) Force a Join. You wanted to PvP, you get it - yes, even if you're still finishing this difficult storyline missions and are _almost_ done. We are forced into DSEs all the time, why not in our PvP matches, also?
2) Create a "staging state" that lasts the 60 seconds of the countdown timer. Only once this has been finished, players are "transported" into the PvP Zone. Ensure "even" teams. I figure that a 20 % difference in size is acceptable by default (so 4 vs 5 or 10 vs 8). But no more difference. Not every player will make it into the match.
In FvF or KvK, balance the team based on the people that chose to join the match. There is no reason for a 3vs5 in an FvF or KvK match!
Teaming
it would be great if the game would automatically form teams between the players. There isn't really a good reason not to, I think. (Of course, there isn't really a good reason thatplayers don't do that anyway, but they don't, to their and their fellow players detriment)
Fair Queues
Nobody wants to wait forever. Particularly once people are not allowed to join matches to keep the teams balanced, this will become a bigger problem. So make it "fair". Have a tracker on how long a person was queued and whenever you have a choice to make who gets into a game, pick the people in order of their wait time.
Premade Teams require special handling - I would suggest that we use the time of the team leader if the team is newly formed, or the time since the teams (regardless if its composition changed or not) last match.
2) Create a "staging state" that lasts the 60 seconds of the countdown timer.
That is a really good idea.... if you queued, you consented.
Alternatively, you just automatically zone to the match as soon as it pops, no need for the second button push... again, if you queued, you consented, and if you want to change your mind, leave the queue before the match pops.
Though that's mostly about AFK players, there are also some other ideas that might help dealing with Queues. Like having a fixed maximum length and speeding up certain elements.
implement(ed) a no-zone-out rule, plus a nobody-new-can-join rule!!! .....!!!!! "
Yes Devs... please fix this. I had a bug today where the only person who didn't logout on the opposing team was orange in colour and we couldn't attack him. Nor could we leave. I can't play that toon now until everyone logs out. VERY annoying when I can't play.
Please reinsitute a leave match option but perhaps give a debuff to anyone who leaves a match prematurely. Say, they cannot enter another pvp match for 10-15mins or something along those lines. That way it's discouraging players from leaving, but it's still an option in a pinch.
Also, if it's not there already, if there are no more remaining players left on one team the opposing team should automatically win by default... everyone else bailed/forfeit
Autobalancing should be possible. I had a match were I (as a fed) was playing with Klingons - much to my confusion! I believe this was a bug though, as I received errors when trying request them to a team.
It was on a 5 vs 5 map, so there should've been no problems with teams.

thats because you encountered a glitch where you got transfer'd from one team to the other. Most likely due to a disconnection and reconnection.
I wouldn't qeue my team up for PvP if I knew that it was just gonna rebalance the teams and we would have to kill eachother. Thats just dumb and would likely **** off all the organized pvp fleets.

Yeah, you're in the neutral state I think, where you don't show up on the PvP report window either. Usually flying back through the other side of the gate you spawn in front of fixes it, or logging in and out. Then you get back on the Fed side. As for why the gate thing works, I have no clue, but it does tend to fix it when it happens to us.
