id like to dedicate a thread to those people out there that pvp frequently. Not as much a bragging thread...as it is an informational thread for less experienced or new pvpers to get to know the community of well versed player vs player captains...So here are the rules for this thread.
- Post the top 5 to 10 people you have personally experienced playing with in each category.
- the Categories are as follows....Tactical, Science, and Engineering (ship types dont apply only classes)
- Please do not list yourself...list people you have played with that you consider to be higher teir of skilled players you have had the pleasure of playing with.
- No Flaming or arguments or insults or i will just ask a mod to close the thread and delete it.
- The largest purpose of this thread as ive stated before is for casual forum lurkers to have an understanding of who they can rely on for good information here on the forums as well as in the game.
I am figuring this post will either be a huge success or a colossal failure...unfortunately its not up to me but instead it is fated upon the people posting...so please...be courteous...and keep in mind this is to help the new guy so we can all progress and keep this game populated.
These are not listed in any particular order...just in order i could think of them off the top of my head...and as i dont play klink this is Federation only for me...

I'd add Blackjack to the tactical list and Santa to the science list.
Ellie is someone I don't think I've flown with for the better part of a month (I miss ya, Ellie!), but she is an amazing cruiser pilot and deserves a second mention.
Faithborn, obviously goes on the engineer list and deserves another mention.
I tend to remember when I get my teeth kicked in, so obviously DOB teams A through Z belong on the list.
Prior to 1.2, whenever I'd zone into a match and see Constaleia I'd immediately swap a tactical officer to ensure I had TSE2 or TSE3. Constaleia really knows the value of a FAST escort (not just for booking it out of combat) and deserves to be on that list.
If I can think of anyone else I'll add it later, but I've been leveling a Klink engineer via exploration missions so my brain has melted for the time being.
I wish I could add names, just so many people who post in this forum, I can really appreciate thier abilites in-game.
For me caring is the primary skill. I understand the purpose of the thread.. But usually, this turns into a plug fest for people's buddies.
I wish it was mandatory to read forums so many people who play don't even bother to come to the forums anyhow. They usually just listen to bad advice from thier fleet mates and get stuck on the idea that this is OP and either start doing it or this is what you can tell yourself at night to sleep better.
- Please do not list yourself...list people you have played with that you consider to be higher tier of skilled players you have had the pleasure of playing with.
This is not a plugfest for you and your buddies....this is an informative post to the new guy...im not trying to be a jerk here...im honestlytrying to be helpful...please try and post here with the new guy in mind, and who he might be able to talk to about a specific class to get the help he would like.

I'm usually not much for posting in these types of threads but since the OP is a fleetmate I'll play along. The list of individual players would probably be too long so I'll just suggest fleets with good players. One caveat though...doing what they say and being able to do what they do are two very distinct and unequal things.

Federation:
Section 31, DOB, 7th Core, 12th Fleet, and 182nd
Klingon:
GoD, LORE, and Sto'Vo'Kor
can also add -RE- Raumpatroille Elysium to that list of fed fleets.
Good group on the euro side.

Could not remember their name but they also have some good players. And if you can ever find them again...Coffee Crew and Murder Fleet...were excellent fleets in PvP. Casualties of the game, i guess.

an Engineer / Cruiser i have meet often in pug groups at my afternoon times was also an excellent player (havent seen him since before 1.2), Geku. Cant remember which fleet he is in but it could be RE
All i can do is at these threads. Most of the posts in them are ppl only putting thier friends in not the true pvp ppl who really should be here. There are a few real good pvp ppl that have been posted here though.
Well I play Klingon 98% of the time so I can only list a few Federation players but here we go in no particular order of some of the best people (some not all) that I've had the fortune of playing alongside or against in the main fields I see them in. All are listed by character handle:
Engineers:
-Faithborn (never with, only against and you're a game changer I must say)
-Evilhippo
-Darksided
-Lone_Rider26
Science:
-Galkus
-I know more but a lot don't play their science as their primaries, but I'll update as I think of more.
and anything with @Keldor on it....which covers all three
I know there are some names that I've missed and I'm sorry to those people as I don't mean any insult by not listing you here, as I think of yall I'll update the post.
I have to admit that we don't get to fight pre vs pre with the other top PvP guilds in the game, and on the three occasions where we managed to have the right number of people on at the right time, and the matches actually worked out, our record for wins and losses wasn't very impressive. This is SVK I'm talking about here. Beyond that fact, the one about how we pretty much dominate every map all day long on klingon side and cause most of this fedwhine, beyond that fact almost all of the officers in SVK have at least 2 BG5s, usually 3-4, and 1-3 RA5s on top of that (which we never really play anymore for various reasons) and are all very very well versed in every officer and ship type available to us, and we frequently switch from one style to another between matches in order to keep trading roles and figuring out interesting strategic combinations. It certainly keeps me entertained when the only feds who will face us at all are premades in cracked planetoid who are just ending their day of hardcore fighting FvFs and ran out of opponents they know really well... or noobs who immediately alt-tab and whine on the forums whenever they see one of us coming. So, our experience as a group is still pretty limited. That on top of this we also scoop up any good player we can find who doesn't immediately quit a team at the end of a PvP match (stupid feds and their stupid fedwhine culture, god I hate feds) and if not outright recruit them, set them up to be part of our massive and constantly growing social network so that eventually, when their fleet does die, we've already been there fore them since they can remember, and they are basically already in our fleet anyway. I'm ranting.
I'm terrible with names, it's unreasonable how bad I am with names. I'll try to keep better track of who's good and who isn't, but no guarantees that I'll remember what they're good at, my brain works funny when it comes to names.

this list is woefully incomplete, and admittedly most of those guys are my buddies, but we hardly see the rest of you because you're all tied up being elite about your FvF nonsense. The way you guys have adapted to eachother has little or no reflection on how we will have to adapt to you. Almost nobody does KvK, which is probably why SVK is undefeated in KvK. I think we've even beaten GoD or maybe assorted members of them mixed into another fleet or something, I can't remember. To me they didn't seem remarkable.
We utterly crushed TTT, and then one match later faithborn joined them and we lost 10-15 about three or four days ago. We had a big discussion on vent about what a difference that one guy makes. I think that's the 5th time faithborn has ever even come across a member of SVK in combat in the history of the game.

Ellie from 7th Core has been doing a fantastic job healing. Very surprising coming from 7th Core. I think this fleet overall has a lot potential in the future.
While many of the fleets that have been named already. I will leave it at that. While many of the names of people are very good in their team dynamic I haven't experienced any of them without their team or part of their team in any map. Even though I am in a fleet I tend to PUG 40% of the time and find there are a lot of up and coming ships that are fleet-less.

Ellie is one of the few healers that I would trust my life on (not putting down other healers), but she is that good. I would say that she is on par, or better than me. It is very nice to see her back.

Ummm... these are just the ones that I remember off the top of my head due to the frequency with which I see them. There are many others that I cannot remember the names of at the moment, but I have records on my machine at home and will be updating my list this evening...
EDIT:
So, I did add some names to the list, but tried to keep it to players I have seen more recently. Some of my records go back pretty far, and I am sure some players are no longer around. I am also not 100% sure on the specialization of all of them. Some just got lumped in with Tactical because they were dominating the damage listings...

Creative players, as in I have no idea what profession they are but I recognize they do very creative and non-traditional things with a high degree of success with their character.
Apologies if I missed anyone. This is just off the top of my head. I'll definitely update it. I won't include anyone from GoD on the list or it would bee too long These are all Fed players because I only play Klingon.

(People are having a hard time naming Science huh?)
I suspect it's because effective science players are often subtle and do not generate large numbers on the after-action score report.
People tend to notice:
Players who score high
Players who talk a lot
Players they group with or fight against frequently
Players who kill them
Players who heal them
And largely in that order. Science doesn't do any of that, except healing which is at the very bottom unless you generate huge numbers (and only hull heals show up). At best, people realize that somebody just punched them in the back of the head with a photonic shockwave, but it doesn't often occur to them that it was part of a chain of events that led to their death (stunned a healer, for instance).
The exception to the rule is usually the sci-BoP player, who uses a combination of offensive power (which DOES show up on scoreboards, and DOES catch people's attention when they die) and CC/SNB to make a noticeable difference in a fight... key word "noticeable". A good sci can always make a difference.
